Valentines with Eileen Hull Designs

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I thought this box would be perfect to fill with candy for a special person!  I made the box using Eileen's new Book Box die which is just the perfect size for a small gift of chocolate or anything else!

I created the cover of the box using pink, white, and blue acrylic paints and a Gel Press plate. (Tutorial for using Gel Press here.)

I embellished the front cover with a Heart Mandala die cut.  I placed a fussy cut image from Stamperia in the center of the Mandala.  Flowers from Little Birdie and a seam binding bow finish off the look.

I added a closure to the box.  You can see how I made the closure from a link in this post.

The flowers and bow add lots of dimension to the cover.

On the left side I added a pocket and tag using dies from Eileen's pockets set and Waterfall and Tags set.

Valentine's Card

This is such a fun Valentine that I made with Eileen's new Snail Mail thinlits set and Snail Mail Sentiments stamps.  These two sets were made to go together and I just love them!  The really cool thing about the thinlits set is that you can cut one big sheet like I used on the front of this card OR you can cut the set of stamps and then tear apart just like real stamps. That's how I made the stamp on the envelope.

To make this card, I cut a stamp panel using just the panel die and then stamped the panel with different stamps from the Stamp - Snail Mail Everyday Sentiments - 6x8 Stamp and a couple other stamps from my stash.

Eileen Hull's Book Box Makes a Great Valentine's Candy Box!

Here's a little something special and heavily embellished 😄 candy box for your special person!  I made the box using Eileen Hull Designs by Sizzix new Book Box XL Scoreboard die.  I started with white mat board and covered it with  black cardstock.  Then I cut paper to fit inside and out.

The inside of the box is large enough to hold a nice supply of chocolates!

In this photo you can see the closure that I made.  I show you how to make it in this video at 35:20.  You can also see how I paper the sides of the box in that same video.

And just for a little masculine fun, I added some Steampunk metal hearts.

Creative Embellishments Border Crossing Layout

Summer 2019, we went back to Alaska in our motorhome.  We lived in Fairbanks, Alaska 1995 - 2000 and completely fell in love with this wild untamed state.  Our last trip was in 2010 so we were super excited to return!

We crossed the border on June 12 and it's really ironic that we also crossed the border on our 2010 trip, on June 12th!

The main paper is a specialty paper that i bought in Alaska.  The embellishments are 49 and Market.

I mounted the tiny Alaska license plate embellie on a heat embossed washi tape cluster.  Those clusters work so well to hold titles.

I framed my picture with the Infinite Circle Frame (inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink) and added some pretty Little Birdie flowers to complement.

A Card for Little Birdie Crafts

Today I am sharing a pretty and  card that I did for Little Birdie Crafts.

I used the Poppies and Roses Collection and some beautiful Little Birdie blooms to craft this card.

Tutorial

To make this card, begin by cutting a piece of cardstock 10 1/2" x 8" and score at 5 1/4".  This is the base of the card.

Next cut 3 pieces of design paper 5" x 7 3/4" for the front cover and the insides of the card.  Adhere to the front and insides of the card.

Front

Inisde (with a punch out doily ahered on the left side)

Then using a script mask, stencil on some words on the left side of the card.  (See the 2nd photo below.)  After the masking paste dries, swipe some red ink over the stenciling.  (I used Distress Fired Brick ink.)

While the stenciling is drying, select two journaling cards and distress and ink the edges.  Layer one journal card over the other and pop up the top card.

Place an ornate piece of chipboard on the right side and then add the journaling cards.

Here you can see how the journal card on top is popped up.

Now it is time to add some beautiful blooms, leaves, and fussy cuts.  I fussy cut a clock face and butterflies from the Elements Sheet included in the paper pack.

Now you have a beautiful card to gift to a cherished friend.

Thank you for joining me today!  Hope you have a great crafty day.

Layout for Little Birdie Designs

Hello Little Birdie friends!  Today I am sharing a sweet baby layout that I made using the Celebrate Life collection.  A new baby is always cause for celebration and Celebrate Life is such a gorgeous collection to scrap sweet baby girls!

I made this to fit into an 9" x 8" album that I am making so I cut my base layer down to that size and added a solid pink layer that is 8" x 7".

Next I stenciled a pattern on the pink layer.

I matted the photos with paper from the 6 x 6 pad so they would stand out on the layout.  If you are using a patterned busy paper as the layer beneath your photos, it really helps to give the photo(s) definition by matting them.  Otherwise the patterned paper and the photos tend to "fight"with each other.

Then comes my favorite part, adding pretty Little Birdie blooms!  Since I am putting this layout in an album I wanted to keep it as flat as I could so I chose small blooms but they are so dainty, perfect for a sweet little princess baby!

I used butterflies from the Celebrate Life Elements package to finish off the layout.  The Elements packages are great diecut pieces that are perfect for tucking in here and there.  You can see in the photo above,  how I  tucked flower diecuts  underneath my dimensional flowers and tags underneath the photos.

A Canvas for Little Birdie Crafts

Today I'm sharing an inspiration art canvas that I did for Little Birdie Crafts. I've used the Boho Dreams paper collection along with some mixed medias to create this panel.

Let me show you how I made this.  First I cut an 8 x 8 piece from the Boho Dreams collection and applied a sticky sheet to the back of the paper so that the paper would be securely attached to the art panel.  This will keep the paper from buckling when mixed media is applied. (I distressed around the edges before adhering to the board.)

Next, I used the Floral stencil and masked on some floral patterns using white Mixed Media Paste.  After that dried, I misted with Berry Blast and Gold Rust mists and allowed that to dry.  (You can speed up the process by drying with your heat gun.)  Then I streaked yellow, red and white paint randomly on the canvas.

I took a 6" x 6" piece of paper from the collection and tore all around the edges and then added 3 pieces of washi tape.

I used a combination of mists and paints to color the 6 x 6 paper.  While that dries locate the two punch out doilies shown below.  Ink over the doilies to give an aged appearance.  I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  Now apply some paint randomly around the edges of the doilies.

Paint a scrap of corrugated cardboard white and adhere near the bottom of the canvas. Then adhere the smaller paper, centering as shown below.  Heat emboss the Scroll Border with embossing enamel and attach to the corrugated paper.  (I used Stampendous Aged Rose Embossing Enamel.)

Now it's time to decorate with flowers and the two doilies.  Use some foam tape to pop up the doilies and place one so that it partially covers the other.

For a finishing touch, dry brush some white paint over the flowers.

Creative Embellishments July Challenge

Time for a new challenge at the Creative Embellishments Blog.  Here's the mood board, something will surely inspire you!  This twist this month is to use a birthday theme.

My Take on the Challenge

It's pretty obvious where the inspiration for this card came from as you can see one of the photos on the mood board is lilacs, and so, I chose Stamperia's Lilac Flowers collection to make this card.

I use a pretty photo corner in the upper left to anchor my lovely Little Birdie Crafts flowers.  The sentiment is from Small Sentiment Words set.  I used Stampendous Aged Wine Embossing Enamel to color both pieces of chipboard.  Then I just diecut several layers for the front.

I did a simple pop up on the inside using the pretty papers to make layers.

Step Card

The 2nd card is a step card that will stand up so prettily all on its own.

I used a Scribble Frame to group and highlight my chose embellishments.  It looks so nice on the center pane of the card.  I treated the frame with Stampendous Shabby Chic White Embossing Enamel.

I thought the pink polka dotted paper insdie was so pretty, I just left it as is and added the words from the Birthday Word set also heat embossed with Stampendous Shabby Chic White Embossing Enamel.
