If there is any kindness I can show, any good thing I can do to any fellow human being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again.

The Anne Carlsen Center is dedicated to “Nurturing abilities. Changing Lives."

Dr. Anne Carlsen, our namesake and former administrator, believed in the worth of every individual. Throughout her life she exemplified strength and nurturing, advocating for individuals with disabilities, and teaching them how to advocate for themselves, while creating a life of independence.

The Anne Carlsen Center offers a rich tradition of educational, residential, therapeutic, evaluation, and community-based services. Our individualized services include care for individuals — and families — of all ages with cerebral palsy; orthopedic, vision and hearing disabilities; autism, pervasive, and other behavior disorders; and other medical acuities.

The Center’s education program provides students with a safe, secure and loving atmosphere in which they can learn and grow. The Center is approved and accredited through the ND Dept of Public Instruction as a K-12 school.

The Student Council consists of a team of Anne Carlsen students dedicated to helping their fellow peers, classmates and friends. Student Council fund raises throughout the year to help students pay for necessities such as clothing, shoes, winter gear, school supplies or other needs they may not have the funds to cover for themselves. Fundraising also provides a yearbook at no cost to each and every student at the Anne Carlsen Center.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is just around the corner and yeah I've been sneaking a few chocolates that I bought to give away to the kids!  The Flying Unicorn store has 20% off on all Halloween products through the end of October, it's a SPOOKTACULAR SAVINGS!

I've used the faboolous Authentique Enchanted collection for this first collection featuring the Flying Unicorn's favorite Halloween villan, Mr. Hal-o-ween!  I used Stampendous Aged Embossing enamels in black and silver to emboss the Dusty Attic spider web and spiders.  Those enamels are my new favorite product, they look sooo fabby on chipboard!

Everyone knows I am nuts about Graphic 45 papers and I really loved the bright and bold Happy Haunting collection!  I love this little witch!  I did a lot of fussy cutting and added a couple tags from the Authentique collection.  Again I added Dusty Attic spider and web chippys.

I used Stampendous aged black embossing enamel on the web, I love the flecks of gold and silver in this enamel!  Another great product that is a must for me when using these enamels is Stampendous boss gloss; it's a clear embossing gel that you dab on, it's so much easier to use when your covering a large surface like a piece of chipboard.

I made the yellow flower using Spellbinder's Sunflower set #2.  The orange flowers are Petaloo Tifany Treasures in Mandarin Orange, they are the perfect color for your Halloween projects!

Our niece was recently married and I am making a scrapbook for her.  Her husband proposed to her around Halloween and hid the ring inside a pumpkin he had carved.  So I had alot of fun scrapping a couple of pages about the proposal!  I used a mix of the Authentique Enchanged an G45 Happy Haunting collections for these next two pages.

The two pumpkins fussy cut photos of the pumpkins they carved.  The little orange banners are from my stash, an older Pink Paislee collection.

The story of his proposal is hidden in the library pocket.

There are lots of great Halloween products on sale at the Flying Unicorn, be sure to get some so you can scrap your witches and goblins and save those wonderful memories!

October challenge with the KOM

Kelly is hosting a challenge to use the October KOM - A Journey in Time, with a "Time" theme.  We just returned from a long and relaxing vacation in the Smoky Mountains and driving the Blue Ridge Parkway so this was a perfect challenge for me!  The leaves were starting to turn, the weather was nearly perfect, you know it was a perfect "time"!!

I used a sheet of G45 and Scrapcake Summer City papers from the kit along with a sheet of red cardstock, the Dusty Attic chippy and large Prima flower from my stash.  The red flowers came in the kit but they were white so I dyed them with Lindy's mist.  I dabbled some gesso and acrylic paint on the G45 paper to tie it in to my photo cut some banners from the Summer City papers with my Tim Holtz die.

The DA piece is painted with red, yellow, green and orange Smooch paint. I made some of the leaves from air dry clay and a leaves mold.

Thanks for visiting!

Chena and Escape Kitty - Flying Unicorn Oct KOM

Uh oh, the dynamic duo is off again! and looks like they're taking a journey all right! And where are these two off to now? From the looks of things, it seems they are hitchhiking out west and I guess they fancy themselves as cowgirls! Chena was digging around in a trunk upstairs and I wondered what she was looking for. Guess she found that cowboy hat. Now the boots, no idea where they came from but I'm hearing some tall tales about a cat and a dog scoring big at the poker tables! Soooo...I'm guessing she won them in a poker game. You go Chena and glad you're winning 'cause I AM NOT financing this latest adventure of yours and Escape Kitty.

But you listen up, you and Kitty be careful, I know you two are working a scam at the tables, watch yourself, you just might beat the wrong person. Kitty has nine lives but you don't!!

There's so much you can do with this kit.  You can go grunge, romantic, vintage, shabby, really any style that apeals to you.  I combined G45 and Scrapcake papers from the kit to make the layout.  The large diecut was made with a WRMK Lucky 8 punch, I love this one, its my fave!  Then I added the blue square in the middle that has been punched with Martha Stewarts Cherish punch around the page punch. The vine on the right is Prima and underneath that I've placed a diecut swirly vine that my dear friend Kathi gave me.   On the left I've clustered a DA compass and handmade flower.  I used one of my favorite new products on the DA, Stampendous aged aqua embossing powder.  Ooooh I love this stuff, I have 13 different colors!!  Look for it in the store.  I made the flower using McGill Floriano and sunburst punches.

Thanks for visiting and be sure to check out the Flying Unicorn store and forums!

Oct KOM -A Journey in Time

And here it is!!!!!  The fabulous October kit from the Flying Unicorn - A Journey in Time.  This kit is filled with fabulous papers from Prima Craftsman, Kaisercraft Sears and Sons, and  Scrapcake Summer City.  As always the kit includes an OTP, if you are international, you will get letters to spell LOVE, US residents get letters to spell BOO for Halloween!

Here's my OTP, I used papers from 7 Gypsies Trousseau to cover my letters.   I've used Golden crackle paste and a Prima mask to make the branches and bird cages. The flowers are Petaloo.  I love the birdcage mask.  We have alot of new masks from Prima and The Crafters Workshop in the store, be sure to check them out.

I've used Prima's Craftsman papers for this LO. I embossed the G45 butterflies with a Sizzix Vintaj metal embossing folder and then added some metallic rub to highlight the embossing. The gears are Prima canvas painted with gold Ranger dabbers. In the background I used TCW masks for the clocks and tiles. The clocks have been heat embossed and the tiles are paint. I scattered some Stampendous mica flakes and then used Glossy Accents over them to help keep them adherred to the page.

I've used Golden crackle paste and a Prima mask to make the leafy vine. I cut a circle and used a MS Swirling Lace corner punch to cut around the circle. The corners are Dusty Attic pieces heat embossed with Stampendous aged gold. The large diecut was done with a WRMK Lucky 8 punch.
