Layout with the Sept kit from Swirlydoos Kit Club

This is a very special photograph to me.  Yes. its old and tattered, and, even though I tried to restore it a bit, it still shows the signs of extreme wear and tear.  But that's no matter, the photo is of my parents and it's one that my Dad has carried in his wallet forever. Now my parents have been married for 70 years!! and this photo was taken before they were married, no wonder the photo is well aged!

The Swirlydoos embellishments add on kit included a Kaisercraft transparency of photo negatives and I've cut the giant negative strip on my layout from that.  The main kit features Prima's Time Traveler Memories collection and I love the tags that are included with the papers in the main kit.  I've used one of those tags as my title, Together Forever.  I think that appropriate for a couple that's been married 70 years!

I did a little stenciling in the right corners using Prima mask Decor 1 and Shimmerz TextureZ in sandy stone.  I also lightly stamped randomly with a foam dots stamp using Claudia Hellmuth traditional tan and blank canvas acrylic paints.

Don't you just love the Blue Fern Studios chandelier in the right corner?  I painted it with Silks Emperor Gold.  It is not as red as it appears, photographing metallics can be so tricky!  We're having a challenge in the Swirlydoos forum to use a chandelier so I did this layout as challenge inspiration.  Please note that you do not have to use Swirlydoos kits or products to enter this challenge so come on over!

While Micheal's and Hobby Lobby are great for supplies, you sure can't find the newest papers and embellishments in those stores.

Raining Cats and Dogs, Finally!!

Ever since Graphic 45 revealed its Raining Cats and Dogs collection, I have been dying to own it!!  Finally I received my shipment of these lovely papers, chippies, tags, etc.  Oh yeah, I ordered LOTS of this collection with all the embellishments!!  I even got all the stamps.  So if you know me, you know that this is expected behavior as I am crazy about my dogs, they are my children and I love them to pieces!

My first project with this collection is this tag mini that I made using a Graphic 45 tag album.  I adore the rich colors!

The poodles were diecut withCottage Cuts dies.  I used Ranger black puffs embossing powder to get that "curly" look on the black poodle.  It was perfect for making the poodle's coat!  The white poodle was embossed with Ranger weathered white Embossing Antiquities.  That, too, made great poodle hair!

Really, what more does this girl need, but a dog?  Well, I need two dogs, LOL!!

Here's the 2nd page.  It has a pocket where you can slip in some photos.  The little stamp near the bottom is me holding my sweet Chena when she was just a pup.  She is giving me a sweet poodle kiss!

Here are a couple of tags partially out of the pocket.

I have always loved the comic strips and one of my very favorites is "For Better or For Worse".  I saved this particular strip because it really expresses my emotion as far as new puppies are concerned!

The page flips up to reveal these two pages.

Because I am really quite silly, :-), I send out adoption announcements when we adopt a new puppy.  On the bottom right, I've added a litle pocket that holds the adoption announcements for all four of our poodles.

In 2010 we went to Alaska for 2 1/2 months.  We had just lost Chili to autoimmune diseases so Chena was an "only dog".  Oh my, did she ever enjoy that!  While in Alaska, we campground hosted at Denali National Park and Chena was the "official" campground dog!  We had so many visitors from all over the world and they were missing their furbabies so they were thrilled that Chena would allow them to love all over her!

I'm sure many of you are familiar with the tales of Chena and Escape Kitty.  This is one of my favorite pictures of those two hooligans.  Thank you to Escape Kitty's Mom, Jen Synder for allowing me to use her photo!  You can read all about Escape Kitty and Chena on Kitty's blog.

After we lost Chili, we adopted the sweetest poodle in the world, Nika.  Ah sweet Nika, she is most often called Noodle.  Why?  Well she's just kinda noodley and she loves to cuddle more than any dog I've ever known!

I love the letters in this collection!

I've got a little pocket on this page behind the umbrella girl that holds a tiny mini.

Here you can see the tiny mini partially slipped out of the pocket.

This is the back cover, I always include this crazy poodle image and quote when I make a dog mini.  Wonder if Henry thinks poodles are part of some weird cult??

Closeup:

Thank you for taking a look at this looooong post!  I hope that I given you a taste of just how beautiful Raining Cats and Dogs is.  The colors are so vibrant and the images so sweet and inviting!

Never miss one of our kits again!

We have some absolutely beautiful scrapbook projects for you to see today !!

I did this first layout for the Anatomy of a Layout feature that we do every month with our kit.  The Anatomy is a build a page tutorial with step by step instructions.  You can see my tutorial for this layout here.   I've used just the main kit papers and flowers, and punches and a mask from my stash to make this layout.

I made the larger flowers with McGills Floriano and Starburst punches.  The small flower is made with McGill's Retro Flower punch.

Next up is an altered plastic lettuce box! I love wrapping a gift in a unique way and so I've been saving these boxes.

I've used a Leaky Shed Studios flower corner chippy underneath all those roses.

Here's a simple card that I did with the kit.  I added the beads and flowers from my stash and the butterfly is from a previous kit.  The Happy Birthday is cut with a Memory Box die.

Each kit includes a sketch and every month we have a  challenge with that sketch.  Be sure to check that out! Here's my interpretation of the sketch with this kit.

The gold flowers and leaves come in the flower add on.  The flowers are sort of a kraft color but I have sprayed them with Lindy's Grab A Guy Gold to add a bright punch to my page.

BAP with Prima Time Traveler from the September Swirlydoos kit of the month.

Hi girlies, don't you just LOVE this yummy September kit, Vintage Love? I have drooled over every single sheet of paper in this kit, the colors are so vintage and so lovely! So come along with me as we build a page featuring Prima's Time Traveler collection. I've used nothing but papers and two flowers from the kit, some of my punches and a little bit of molding paste to create this layout.

1. Select these two papers from the kit. Cut the dark floral paper to 10.25 x 10.25. I used some Shimmerz TextureZ in Sandy Stone and Prima's crackle mask to do some random stenciling on the paper.

2. Cut an 8.5" square from the center of the larger paper and save for another use. Punch around the dark paper, I used Martha Stewart's Swirling Lace punches.

3. Now cut the following pieces:
floral paper: 5 x 10.25" Punch around the page, I used Martha Stewart's Flourish Lace punches.
striped paper: 3.25 x 6.5"
light printed paper: 3 x 6.75"
Tickets: fussy cut one strip of tickets from ticket paper

Ink and distress all the edges as desired.

4. Ink and distress the edges and then adhere the black paper, centering horizontally and about .75" from the top of the page.

5. Create an embellishment with Martha's Stewarts Daisy Fan punch. I cut two strips and then spaced them apart the exact width of the tickets.

6. Adhere the tickets to the fans. I have used scraps to build mine. You want to cut enough so that the daisy fans fit under your photo.

7. Adhere the light paper about 2.5" from the left side and about 2.5" from the top. Then adhere the floral paper about 2" from the right side and almost to the bottom, it's a quarter inch from the bottom. Now add the daisy fan embellishments that you made. Make sure that they will extend under your photo.

8. Now add the black striped paper; it's about 4.25" from the left side and 3.5" from the top.

9. Cut a scrap of cardboard to fit under your photo and adhere.

10. Arrange your photo overlapping the black striped and floral papers.

11. Now it's time to add flowers! I've added two Prima Roamer flowers from the kit, the peach one over top the photo and the black one under the photo. The larger flowers you see are handmade with McGill Floriano and Starburst punches. Then I've made some smaller flowers with McGill's Retro Flower punch. That's all there is to it!

A Steampunk Spells card!

We're having a card round robin at Swirlydoos Scrapbook Kit Club and I made a card!!  LOL, I'm not a big card maker but I am working on it.

I love how this came out, that owl is from ScrapFx and I just think he's adorable!  The owl's body is heat embossed with Stampendous aged black embossing enamel, I popped out the gears and flourishes  & painted those with  Silks in Emperor's Gold. The beak is done with Stampendous Aged Spice embossing enamel. The gears are chipboard and are rusted with Tiddlybitz Rusting Powder.

Thanks for stopping by!
