Vintage layout for Creative Embellishments

Beautiful flourishes from Creative Embellishments, papers from Maja Design and flowers from Petaloo all come together to make this heritage layout a real beauty!  I love this vintage photo of my aunt that was probably taken in the 1930's.  She was a beautiful woman so I wanted this layout to reflect her beauty.

To start the layout, I did some masking and inking on the background.  Then I added a couple torn layers under the photo.

Creative Embellishments has recently added some gorgeous frilly feminine corner flourishes to their product line and I love them so much!  This one is Flourish Corner 4 and it looks so pretty layered with these Petaloo magnolias.  I heat embossed the flourishes with Stampendous shabby pink embossing enamel.  To bad you can't see the sparkle on them, it is magical with the glitter enhanced flowers.

I chose the word family from the  Small Family Border Word Set.  These small word borders are just the right size to fit under a photo.  Again, I heat embossed with  Stampendous shabby pink embossing enamel.

I love how the tail of the flourish cascades down the page.  It's just the perfect place for a stray flower!

Daddy's Girl layout for Petaloo

It's crazy that this is the only photo I can find of my Dad and me, so I scrap it often!  I was 4 years old and we had just returned from 3 years in France aboard the US aboard the USS United States.  I do wish I remembered all that!

Maja Design of Sweden so generously gave the Petaloo Design Team some of their gorgeous vintage papers and they go so beautifully with Petaloo's flowers.  I used royal blue ranunculus and sugared minis on this layout.  Then to add to the shabby vintage looked, I dry brushed white paint over the flowers and leaves.

My title is chipboard from Creative Embellishments that I misted with Lindy's and then glued on some 13 Arts blue grit.  Underneath the photo I used a Circle Doodle Frame .

Petaloo's Spotlight on Maja Design

Maja Design was so kind to share a great selection of their beautiful vintage papers with the Petaloo design team.  Be sure to join us for the next 12 days as we showcase our projects made with Maja and Petaloo flowers.

I used papers from several Maja collections to design this fun vintage journal that can be used for photos and stories.  I love that Maja's papers coordinate from collection to collection.  Petaloo's Penny Lane flowers blend so nicely with Maja's paper so and the flowers come in a great selection of 10 different vintage colors.  I used Antique Mauve flowers on the cover and throughout the journal.

I masked on the journal cover and then inked with Lindy's mists and Distress Oxide Inks.  I was having trouble deciding on a color palette so I just went with various!  For the closure, I diecut a hinge with an Alterations die from grunge board and felt.  I glued the felt to the grunge board to give it strength and then used a magnetic closure on the front.

A layout for Petaloo and Creative Embellishments

I am so fortunate in that I get to design for two great companies, Creative Embellishments and Petaloo flowers!  Today I'm sharing a layout I did for both companies, combining their great products.

Since it's the first of the month, it's time for another challenge at Creative Embellishments and this is the challenge inspiration photo; the twist is to stamp an image.  The challenges are great and you don't have to use CE products to enter, of course we love it when you do use our chipboard and you get an extra entry for using CE products on your challenge project.  You can find out all about the challenge on CE blog, just look for the first post and that'll be about the challenge.

I used Maja Designs Vintage Frost Basics papers to create my layout.  First, I did some masking on the background and added a torn corrugated strip on the side atop another piece of design paper and topped that with a beautiful lacy piece of chipboard, Dripping Heart Lace Border.  I painted the chippy with vintage white paint and then dabbed on some vintage gold Prima wax.  To meet the challenge twist, I stamped all around the edge of the paper with CE's Burlap Stamp.  I used gold ink for a subtle effect.

I think the lacy border makes such a pretty platform for my coral Petaloo Botanica flowers and sugared berry picks!  Underneath the photo I used a Square Mini Frame  that I cut in two pieces and slipped under opposing corners of the photo.  I used Prima Vintage Gold wax to color the chipboard.  The wax works great on the chippies!

I used another  Square Mini Frame  under this floral cluster of Petaloo Botaonicas and positioned it as a diamond shape and cut off the bottom.

I especially love the word borders and I used two words from the Treasure Border Words set for a title.

Cheery Lynn new flower shaker card kit!

Cheery Lynn Designs has great shaker card kits and today I'm sharing a new one with you. I love the flower shape of this shaker. It's big enough that you can frame an image inside your shaker as I have done.

This card is a meeting of summer and winter.  I have masked some snowflakes on the background but because I am seriously longing for warm weather and spring, I decided to go with flowers!

I made the large flower using the Sweet Williams Die  and the two smaller flowers were made with the  Indie Bouquet - 6 Die Set from the Bohemian Collection.

Underneath the rhinestone swirls I used Flourish #4 Die - CAFLRS4.  I think the swirls on top give this card a nice flair.

A Mother's Day card with Cheery Lynn Designs

Here's a pretty card for Mom with a hidden greeting that you could change for any occasion.  There's a tag hidden under the image that pulls out.  You can see the hidden tag in the next photo.  I've use some Maja Designs paper with bright white cardstock.  

I used a couple of layers of Maja Designs Enjoying the Outdoors paper along with the bright white cardstock.   The striped background layer was cut with French Flair Pierce And Cut Tool .  The I cut a layer with Quadrafoil Square Doily 2 Piece Die Set and tucked it in the top left corner.  Over top that, I layered an image from the design paper.  The little tag that I stamped my sentiment on is also from the design papers.

I used Cherry Blossom 2 Piece Die Set to make the flowers.  I just shapped them a little bit and stacked two layers together and topped with some fun pink bling.

I used Flourish #1 Die underneath the flowers to give the appearance of a vine winding its way up the side.

A layout with Creative Embellishments

Last fall we visited the little town of Lynchburg, TN and made a stop at the Jack Daniels Distillery.  I have to say that is one of the best tours I've ever been on!  I love this photo of Dick and I on the front porch of a little country store in Lynchburg.

I embellished my layout with lots of chippies from Creative Embellishments. Their chipboard is sturdy and the cuts are just perfect. I used the together frame from the Together Frame Set to frame my photo.  I used white distress stain to lightly color the frame and then coated it with Ranger Crackle Accents.

In the corners I used Filigree Corner Set 1, also coated with Crackle Accents.

Under the flowers I cut up pieces of Flourish Set 10 and tucked them here and there.  My favorite way to color chipboard is to dab on Lindy's mists and I did that with these.

A card with Cheery Lynn Designs and Maja

Love love love this image from Maja Designs Summertime collection. It is just perfect to dress up with some Cheery Lynn Designs die cuts!

I started with a white card base (4 3/4" x 6") and topped that with a pretty floral print diecut with Royal Scandinavian Boutique Stacker A2 Frame 4 Piece Die Set.  Then I added a pretty dotted scalloped layer cut with A2 Frames Rectangular Scalloped 7 Piece Die Set.

Of course for this sweet feminine card, I need flowers so I made a rose with the Medium- Rose 7 Piece Die Set.  I love that die set because it cuts all the pieces you need to make a flower at once.  The larger flower is made with the Judy's Blooms Die.   I cut some flourishes with Flourish #11 Die and tucked pieces of that around my flowers.  I cut a tiny tag for my sentiment using the smallest die from the Pierced Stacker 2 - 6 Piece Die Set.

Then, a cheerful seam binding bow, just sets it all off.

Layout for Cheery Lynn Designs

Greetings Cheery Lynn fans!  I'm sharing a layout today that I did using Maja Design's Summertime collection.  I am a sucker for anything that resembles red, so this paper screamed at me!

Here's a fun way to use your oval dies in a different way to make a scalloped border.  I used the Royal Scandinavian Oval Doily 2 Piece Die Set  to diecut 2 ovals.  Then I cut them in half and placed them just under the floral border piece making a really pretty decorative border.  You can make a border like this with either circular or oval dies.

My layouts have to have flowers and leaves, lot s of them!  I made large roses using the 3D Rose 1 Die eand then smaller roses with Medium- Rose 7 Piece Die Set.   I always ink the edges of my flowers to give the petals some depth.

I also made some red "black eyed susans" with our  Black Eyed Susan Strip 5 Piece Die Set.  Aren't they pretty, I bet they'd look great on a Christmas project.

One of my favorite leaf dies is Flourish #14 2 Piece Die Set and I've used it here.  I added a little Lindy's Starburst mist just to give the leaves some shimmer and vary the color abit.

I added a popped up layer underneath my photo with a diecut from the  Pierced Stacker 3 - 6 Piece Die Set  and at the top I added a pretty scalloped striped layer cut with A2 Frames Rectangular Scalloped 7 Piece Die Set .
