Felt Wrapped Journal by Eileen Hull Designs by Sizzix

Wrapped Journal Mini Album
I'm sharing ANOTHER Wrapped Journal with you today!  This one is made of wool felt and that is one of the things I love most about Eileen Hull's XL Scoreboard Dies. They can be used with so many different materials like fabric, paper, leather, felt, cardboard, thin metal, the possibilities are practically endless!

To make that fun button closure, I just attached a button on the spine and a button on the wrap cover and added a piece of ribbon to loop around, easy peasy!

This journal is so pretty with the blue felt and paper accents! And if the paper looks vaguely familiar, its an old Bo Bunny collection of scraps that I had left over.  To make that fun button closure, I just attached a button on the spine and a button on the wrap cover and added a piece of ribbon to loop around, easy peasy!

I also used dies from the  Journaling Cards, Flowers & Leaves set to make the flower on the front cover.  Those dies are also part of the Book Club 2 release and are perfectly sized for this cover, don't you think?

You'll notice that the right wrap cover is scalloped and that's because I used the Scallop Border to die-cut that edge.  There are two Movers & Shapers borders designed to work with the Book Club dies, this one and a Floral Cutout.

Another great thing, if you have the Passport Book, is that the pages from the Passport Book work perfectly for making the signatures for this Wrapped Journal!  How great is that????

The Wrapped Journal is designed to hold 4 signatures so you can really load this book up with notes, photos, whatever you like to keep in your journals.

The Wrapped Journal is part of the Book Club 2 collection and it should be in your favorite store anytime now and also available on the Sizzix website.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Floral Shoppe Step Card for Creative Embellishments

Step Card from Floral Shoppe for Creative Embellishments

Step Card
Here's a card I made using chipboard from Creative Embellishments .  It's a step card and they are my favorite because they stand on their own and look so pretty displayed in your home.  I made this one from Graphic 45's Floral Shoppe collection for my Mom.  She loves flowers so I know she'll love this card!  Yes, I know Mother's Day was last month  😊 but you can just change out the word at the top and the stamping inside and this card will fit whatever occasion you like.

Step Card
Layers of Graphic 45's Floral Shoppe provide a pretty background for the Rose Leaf Spray and pretty flowers.

Step Card
I heat embossed the Rose Leaf Spray with Stampendous Shabby Green Embossing enamel.  I love the texture that the enamel creates on the leaves.
Step Card
Creative Embellishments has a great Mother Word Set, and I used Mom from that set and also heat embossed it with Stampendous Shabby Green Embossing enamel.

Step Card
Inside the card, I used an ephemera card from the Floral Shoppe collection and stamped on Happy Mother's Day.

Whatever the occasion, a step card is a thoughtful way to remember someone.  Here's a link to a step card tutorial if you'd like to make one.

Mixed Media Tim Holtz Etcetera Tag with Graphic 45's Couture

Mixed Media Couture Etcetera Tag
Its always fun to pull out an old collection and see what happens, and so I did!  This is Graphic 45's Couture collection from 2013 and it's a favorite of mine.  I started out with a medium sized Tim Holtz Etcetera tag.  (They are great tags and at 6.5" x 12", there's lot of room for your art!)
Mixed Media Couture Etcetera Tag
I started out by stenciling on a background and then added color with Distress Oxide Inks and paints.

Mixed Media Couture Etcetera Tag
Couture has plenty of great images for fussy cutting and I added some of them on the right side.

Mixed Media Couture Etcetera Tag
A large floral cluster at the botttom left and the top right give the tag just the right symmetry.

Mixed Media Couture Etcetera Tag
I added extra sparkle to the flowers by edging them with Stickles.

Mixed Media Couture Etcetera Tag
Flowers and a bow make the upper corner stand out.

Mixed Media Couture Etcetera Tag
There's even a secret pocket on the tag that's made from a cut-apart.  I matted the cut-apart on a larger piece of design paper and popped it all up with dimensional foam, creating a pocket.
Mixed Media Couture Etcetera Tag
Now, I like to recycle, so I used a packaging tag from Graphic 45 to fit a secret tag inside the pocket.  I die-cut a tag cover using G45's new regular tag die and covered the recycled tag with Couture design paper.  The new G45 dies are fabulous, there's a die for each of their tag sizes, a clock, gears, and flowers!  Love them all!

As a finishing touch, I sprayed it all over with Therm-o-web Iridescent Glitter Dust, it makes the whole tag all sparkly and glamorous!

I often get asked, "what do you do with those tags?"  I have several thoughts on that and one of them being that it doesn't have to have a purpose, it's the act of creating that is important to me.  I've made something I like and it's pretty.  Maybe I'll hang it in my studio or I might gift it to someone special with a message on the hidden tag.  I might attach it to a present.  Wow, think how pretty this would look on a simply wrapped gift.  And, if someone looks at it and says they love it, well it might just go home with them!  It's all about the creation, it doesn't have to have a reason for being!

Thanks for stopping by today, I appreciate it so much.  xxoxox

Wrapped Journal Purse and Passport Book by Eileen Hull Designs by Sizzix

Can you believe I made this purse using Eileen Hull Design's new Wrapped Journal die?  A die needs to have more than one use right?  AND the best part is that the Passport Book mini will fit right inside this sweet little purse!

To fit the mini inside, you just have to make one small adjustment.  I'll show you how to make both the purse and a mini in July, soon, I promise!  Like you, I am waiting for my Wrapped Journal die.  As a member of Eileen's design team, I received some cuts with this die way back in January and that's what I used to make this purse.  Now, I waiting for my own die.  As soon as I receive it, I'll whip up a tutorial for you, promise!

The closure I used is from Fabscraps, it is awesome!

Wrapped Journal by Sizzix - Eileen Hull Designs

Wrapped Journal
Hurray!  Eileen Hull Designs by Sizzix Book Club 2 dies will be available this month!  Here's a Christmas Wrapped Journal from the collection that I made with patent leather.  Below is a video flip through so you can see all the pages.

Wrapped Journal
The journal is such a great size at 5 1/8" x 3 3/4" when the cover is wrapped around.  Easy to tuck into your purse, right?

Wrapped Journal
I cut the center out of the front cover so that I could frame the old world Santa image.  I cut a small image from the design paper and placed it inside the metal frame on the spine dangle and then cover it with Glossy Accents.  That made such a pretty embellishments, along with the mitten and vintage jingle bell.

Wrapped Journal

There are 4 signatures inside the journal, one is lined paper for notes and journaling and the others are full of photo mats, tags, and flip pages to optimize photo and journaling spots.

The photo mats on this page are presented as a "waterfall".

Mixed Media Tag for Creative Embellishments

Mixed Media Tag
Sometimes I like to play around and see what happens and that is what happened on the day I did this chipboard Creative Embellishments Large Tag.  These tags are great for such experimentation as they are about 5.5" x 10", a great size for trying things out.  Maybe I was a bit heavy handed!

Mixed Media Tag
On this day, I was playing with Tim Holtz's new Resist Spray.  That was after decoupaging tissue paper to the tag and not liking the result. So, I gave the tag a nice spritz with the Resist Spray and then sprinkled silver embossing enamel all over.  Perhaps I was a bit heavy handed.....

Mixed Media Tag
Then I glued on Distressed Harlequin Pieces from the Creative Embellishments store.  They've got some paint dabbles and little bits of embossing enamel applied.

Mixed Media TagMixed Media Tag
Then I added some silver metal flowers and leaves to which I added some aged spice and silver embossing enamel.  Next, some stamped on orange paint and some rhinestones for an odd counterpoint amidst all the grunge.  That's it, my play for today.

You know it is important to "play" in your art.  That's how you learn things, you learn what works, what doesn't work and you grow as an artist through these struggles.  So, have some fun, throw paint at a canvas, get your fingers messy, HAVE FUN and don't worry about what it looks like.  Just enjoy the process.

Card with a Hidden Tag from Stamperia Garden Collection

Friendship Card
Here's a fun card made with Stamperia's new Garden Collection.  Oh my, this collection is just yummy!  I placed a hidden tag on the left side of the card where you can write a secret message.

Friendship Card
I made this card for the latest challenge,  Letter Perfect, at the Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog.  The challenge is to create a vintage or shabby chic project with lettering on it.  Now that's a fun project that you can interpret in many ways!

Friendship Card
Nothing fancy about this card, just a simple card with layering on the outside and a simple pocket.

Friendship Card

The round quote is fussy cut from the collection.  That is one thing I really love about Stamperia's collections; they usually include some great fussy cut images!

Friendship Card
Here you can see the tag removed from the hidden pocket.  I just love that vintage lady's shoe charm tied into the box on the tag.

Wrappd Journal Tutorial for Eileen Hull Designs

Hurray, the Wrapped Journal Die from Eileen Hull Designs by Sizzix is here!  It should be available in your favorite stores and at Sizzix sometime this month.  I am so excited, I just love this die!!  It makes the cutest little book with a wrap-around cover.  It's about the size of the  Passport Journal,, BUT the cover wraps all the way around.

I used  Sizzix Mat Board to make my journal covers, it seems to hold up well with Mixed Media applications.  You can also use chipboard though.

I've recorded a video tutorial showing you how I made the cover for this journal and how to string the ealstic bands.

Video Tutorial

Here's the cover opened up so you can see it in it's entirety.

Inside, with the book opened up.

The best thing about this wrap journal is that I used the pages portion of the Passport Journal to diecut the pages for this Wrap Journal! I love it when dies work together like this.

I used the Credit Card Sleeve & Tags Framelits die set to create this gift card holder.  It cuts the perfect size sleeve to slide in a gift card or credit card.

Lots of pretty pages in the journal with tuck spots and pocket pages.  I used Stamperia's Alchemy collection, you really have to see this collection in person to appreciate how beautiful it is!!  I bought 1 collection pack, 'cause I wasn't sure if I would love it, oh yeah, upon receipt, I immediately order another pack!

Stop by my blog tomorrow for a link to a video flip through of this journal so that you can see all the inside pages and different dies from Eileen's newest die collection, Bookclub 2 that includes this fabulous Wrapped Journal die.

June challenge for Creative Embellishments, it's celestial!

Time for another challenge at Creative Embellishments.  I love this month's inspiration photo, you can go so many directions with it and the colors are so fabby!  The twist is to use celestial elements on your project.
I started out with a Large Tag from Creative Embellishments.  If you are a tag lover, you're going to love these tags as they are a great size at 5.5" x 10".  Since they are chipboard, they will hold up to mixed media applications with a coat of gesso applied first.

I used Stamperia Alchemy papers on my tag and started out with a background layer that I masked with Crafters Workshop Shimmering Gold Gesso.  Then I added Doily 2, which is a large intricate doily.  I heat embossed it with Stampendous Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel.  Then I rubbed Prima Metallique Vintage Gold Wax around the edges of the doily to accent it.

Next I layered on a cut-apart from the Alchemy collection and framed the moon face image with the  Out of this World Frame that is heat embossed with Stampendous Aged Bronze Embossing Enamel.  I love how it drays your eye to the image.

At the bottom I've used part of the Floral Lace Border heat embossed with Stampendous Aged Gold.  I really love the Stampendous aged embossing enamels, they are perfect for giving your chipboard pieces some real pizzazz!
