Creating Cards for Eileen Hull Designs

Eileen’s creative team is in full card-making mode this month! We’re creating a card bonanza of designs you can use all throughout 2026. Be sure to visit Eileen’s blog all month long to see the team’s projects, packed with inspiration and creative ways to use Eileen’s dies. You’re sure to find plenty of ideas to spark your card making for 2026!

Travel card

We travel a lot, often with an RV tour group. Each tour usually includes about 50 people, plus the tour leaders. It’s great fun because we travel in our own RVs but camp and explore together. Some of our tours last more than two months, and we truly enjoy seeing the countryside while traveling with like-minded friends.

I made this card as a thank-you for our tour guides. It’s a little hard to see in the photo, but the black cardstock was embossed with Lacey Leaves, which adds beautiful texture. I used the Tunnel Arches die set to create the layered design on the front of the card.

I used the Bookmarks die set to create a pocket where I inserted a tag.  I attached two Tim Holtz Thought Tokens to the front of the pocket along with a Graphic 45 washi tape stripe.

At the end of each tour, we like to thank our tour leaders with a tip for taking such wonderful care of us. I used the Bookmark, Pockets set to create a pocket on the left side of the card, perfect for tucking in a cash gift. On the right, there’s a panel that leaves plenty of space for a personal note.

Birthday Card

Everyone needs a birthday card now and then! This one was fun to make using two sizes from the Tunnel Arches set to create a tri-fold design.

Inside, I used the Windowsill Flowers set so it looks like you’re gazing out a window at a warm, inviting summer scene. I scored the two smaller arches at ¼" and adhered them to the sides of the large arch.  If you look closely, you can see wherethe center arch overlaps the smaller arches in the photo below.

View from the back.  The green design paper covers the overlap of the small arches to the large arch makingfor a smart seamless design.

All Purpose Card

This versatile card works for almost any occasion. I used diecuts from the Field Notes and Specimens die to create the layered front. First, I cut a layer from black cardstock, followed by a patterned paper layer.  I offset the centerfold of each layer so that a 1/4" border would show at the scalloped and bottom edges. I then added another patterned paper layer on top, trimmed ¼" shorter so the black scalloped edge peeks out.

Inside, there’s a pretty vase of flowers cut with the Windowsill die set, along with a coordinating sentiment from the patterned papers. It’s a beautiful way to let someone know you care.

Make a Christmas Planner with Eileen Hull Designs Journal

The only way to make it through the holidays stress free is by getting organized! Here's a journal to help you out that I made using severl of Eileen Hull Designs by Sizzix dies and Graphic 45's Winter Wonderland collection.  (This is an old, but favorite collection.)

I used what is probably my most favorite Eileen journal die, its called "Journal" and its the traditional travel journal size, 4.5" x 8.75".

Since we're all pressed for time these days, I made this a quick journal by using purchased signatures inside rather than making my own.

Here's a video flip through of the journal.

The first page is a calendar with a line for each day of December.

On the back of the calendar page is a pocket to tuck random "stuff".  You know, like a note you made while on the telephone.  The pocket was made with Eileen's Floral Pocket Thinlits set.

I embellished the cover of the signature with a wheel that is made from Eileen's Rainbow Wheels Thinlits set with stops for naughty and nice, and everything in between.  The inside of the signature is blank.

The 2nd signature is divided by tabs that I added to section off the signature. (see the 2nd photo below.)

There's also a nice pocket on the left that is a great place to store receipts. The great thing is, since this is a blank signature, all you need to do is add labeled tabs throughout the blank pages.

There's room to add a 3rd signature if you want, but I didn't need it.

I'm wishing everyone a very happy holiday season, hope your days are stress free!!

Eileen Hull's September Sizzix Release

I love Eileen Hull's new release!  It includes a gorgeous A5 3-D embossing folder, Lacy Leaves, 2 Thinlits Sets, Windowsill Flowers and Vase and Home Sweet Home, and a Framelits Set, Tunnel Arches.

I used the Arches and Windowsill sets  along with the embossing folder to make this fun Halloween decoration.

Have a look at this quick process video to see how I used these dies.

The Home Sweet Home set includes 24 pieces just right for designing your own woodlands scene.  I used the deer and trees dies to embellish this layout.

I really love this new Lacy Leave embossing folder.  I used it to cut arches for both of these cards.

I'll be posting more details about these makes later in the month, be sure to stop by. Visit Eileen's blog and Instagram page to see what the rest of the team has created.

Sewing in the Signatures in Eileen Hull's new Handbound Journal

There are many ways you can add pages to Eileen's newest Handbound Journal.  I went with traditional signatures and then sewed them onto the spine.  Watch my video to see how I did it.

New Release from Eileen Hull Designs by Sizzix Featuring the Handbound Journal

The May Sizzix Release is here!  The Handbound Journal is a ScoreBoards XL die designed to cut and score thick materials like matboard, leather, and felt. It includes built-in score lines, holes, a spine piece, and large labels—no measuring needed! At 6" x 5", you can customize the book’s thickness and choose hand or quick binding, all with a pretty scalloped edge. One of the most versatile designs yet.

The Bigz Journal Hardware Die offers latches, hinges, and pen loops, perfectly sized to coordinate with the journal, and cuts a variety of materials.

The Colour Wheel Stencil is a three-layer stencil that creates a continuous color wheel—use traditional ROYGBIV or customize your palette. Pair it with the Rainbow Wheel Die, which cuts the framework, segmented circle, and arrows for a functional color wheel.

The Swatch Card Stamp Set includes a round palette, rectangular and pie-shaped swatch cards, plus color-themed phrases perfect for cards or journals.

Spring in Antarctica Looks a lot Like Winter!

I spent Thanksgiving in Antarctica aboard an expedition ship and all I can say is WOW!!  I have never been so awestruck in my life.  Antarctica is ethereal, defies the imagination; it was truly the trip of a lifetime!

So, Eileen Hull's creative team is celebrating spring this month and I just had to be "different". 😄 I wanted to show you some ways that you can use Eileen's products on layouts.  I tend to use her designs when making mini albums and such, but really, they are great to use with so many things.

We had lovely spring weather while there, the sun was out and the temps hovered around freezing.  (We had some snow too!)

I made the title using Eileen's Alphanumeric dies and mounted them on a scrap of paper.  Above the title I placed a die-cut bird, flower, and floral cutout from the Floral Pockets set to add some spring elements!

I also used a stencil from the Plate and Pattern set to add the concentric circles. That is a fun set with circles and flower details.

Near the bottom, I die-cut a pocket, from the Floral Pocket set, to hold our identity cards for the trip.  I like to include bits of ephemera from our travels.

Release Party, Featuring the Mini Album, a Vault Release from Eileen Hull for Sizzix

Welcome to Eileen's October Release Party. This Eileen Hull Sizzix release was designed with journaling in mind! If you have never journaled before, the new release features the Mini Album and 6 other products that work perfectly with the journal. You'll find everything that you need to get going in this new release. If you have been journaling for a while, you will want to add these items to your stash- the pieces are very versatile and will coordinate with many of the other dies you may already have.

The base die is the 5” x 5” x 1” Mini-Album, a Scoreboard die specially designed to cut and score thick material AND it cuts in one pass- so easy and quick! You can also use this die to cut the pages that go inside. There are three accessory Thinlits dies: Floral Pocket and Paperclips, Bookmark, Pockets and Toppers and Charms that cut pockets, bookmarks, embellishments, paper clips, charms and extras that may be used to decorate the pages of the book. There is a stamp set called Fan Favorites with 61 words and phrases to use inside the book, on cards, and tags! Plate and Pattern is a four layer stencil- each layer may be used separately or all together. Create page backgrounds, use on your gel plate, outline and stitch the design on fabric or to trace shapes and fill in with watercolor. The Floral Damask multi-level 3D embossing folder creates a beautiful background useful for journal pages, cards and tags!
Join me in exploring these products at our Release Party on October 22 at noon ET streaming to Facebook, Instagram and YouTube @eileenhull! You will see lots of great ideas and inspiration by the amazingly talented Team and also ask any questions you may have. If you miss it live, you can watch on replay. Another Take on Eileen Hull's Stacking Drawer Die

Eileen's Stacking Drawer Box was designed to fit inside the Treasure Box.  But, those drawers can also stand alone...

Just like this!  I made 6 drawers and put them altogether creating a chest that will hold lots of small trinkets.

TUTORIAL

The chest of drawers is easy to make.  Follow along with my tutorial and make your own.

Step 1:  Die-cut and assemble as many drawers as you want in your chest.  I wanted 6 but you could do 8 or 4 or make it a tall set of single drawers.  Whatever you like!

I chose to add design paper to the drawers after assembly but you could also add design paper to your matboard before die-cutting.

Step 2: After assembling the drawers be sure to ink the edges.

Step 3:  To cover the drawers with design paper, cut a strip of paper 10 3/8" x 1 1/2".  Hold the right end of the paper right at the end of the box and traced the thumb cut out on the paper.  Use a 3/4" circle punch to cut out the thumb notch.

Step 4:  Adhere the paper around the box.   This was a little tricky but the best way I found to do this was to hold the thumb cutout in place and adhere the paper from that point all around the box.  Then I adhered the small portion along the thumb cutout over the wrapped flap.  I hope that makes sense!  I was afraid that if I started at the other end my thumb cut out might not be exactly positioned and I wanted the paper to cover where I wrapped around the corner.

Step 5:  Now glue the boxes together. I started by making a stack of three using scortape to attach the boxes together.  Then I attached the two stacks together, again using scortape.

Now to make the chest nice and neat I cut 2 pieces of thin chipboard to cover each end, 2 1/8" x 5", and a piece 2 1/8" x 6 1/4" to cover the top.  Then I covered with design paper.  So you would cut chipboard  to cover your stack of drawers at whatever size you needed depending on how many drawers you use in your stack.

In this picture you can see the added panels on the sides and top.

The drawers are perfect for holding small trinkets.

View from the back.

You know I had to add flowers!

I dug deep into my stash and found this pretty cameo that I thought added a nice feminine touch.

I'd love to see what you do with all these stacked drawers.  Be sure to post your creations in the Eileen Hull Fan Club Facebook page.  You will need to join the group (if you haven't already) before you can post and be sure to answer the questions when you join.
