Creative Embellishments Layout with Graphic 45 Sun Kissed

It's that time of the year when I think many of us are suffering from the winter blues and yearning for summer.  This layout will definitely make you forget about winter, if only for a moment.

I've combined some great chippies from Creative Embellishments (CE) with Graphic 45's new Sun Kissed paper collection.  I mixed tan acrylic paint and gold glitter with Prima's White Sand Texture Paste to create my sandy beach.  I anchored CE's seagrass chippies stained with Lindy's Starburst mists in the sand.  Over on the right is a cute little chipboard crab nestled in amongst the navy Little Birdie flowers.

The photo is framed with a chipboard Steampunk Chain Frame that is heat embossed with Stampendous Aged Marine Embossing Enamel.  The frame also comes with gears that I buried in the sand.  They get their rusty look from Lindy's Starburst Mist.

Rich Metal Hues Journal for Eileen Hull Designs by Sizzix

I love to work with metallics and this journal is definitely a study in rich gold hues.

I've filmed a tutorial video that takes you through the creation of this cover step by step.  I also show you how to string this kind of journal and how to make a fun spine button closure.

Metal flower heat embossed with Stampendous Aged Gold Embossing Enamel along with gold toned design papers from Stamperia and Graphic 45 contribute  gorgeous vintage golds to the cover.

Love these gold embossed flowers.

This is a spine button that I use to make the journal's closure.

Fairy Dust Journal for Creative Embellishments

I'm sharing an enchanted journal that I made for Creative Embellishments (CE) today.  I wish you could see how the cover twinkles with all the "fairy dust" on it!  Therm-o-web Iridescent Glitter Dust is a great product for adding lots of sparkle to you projects and the best part is that glitter doesn't get all over everything when you use it.  A word of caution though, you need to use it in a well ventilated area and cover surrounding surfaces to protect from over spray.

This sweet little CE chipboard fairy sitting on the moon takes center stage.  She is painted first with white paint and then with Bo Bunny Glitter Paste.  I also used Glitter Paste to mask on some  twinkling fairy sparkles in the background with CE's Fairy Dust Stencil.

I made a closure button with one of the flair buttons from the Fairy Set.  I glued the flair piece to a button, punched two small holes in the cover, and threaded the button onto the cover with lightweight cording.  There's a gold elastic band coming out of the spine, from inside the journal, that wraps around the back of the journal and loops over the button.

I dabbed Flourish 27 with Lindy's Mist and then cut it up to use as foliage underneath these pretty Little Birdie blooms.

Little Birdie had a wonderful booth at Creativation and a fun Make 'n' Take too.  Best of all they gave away the cutest little gift bags with these flowers inside!

There's another flair button tucked into this floral cluster.
View of the front and back cover.  I am loving these Little Birdie flowers 'cause they look so great with Graphic 45 papers.

Creative Embellishments February Challenge!

Time for a new challenge at Creative Embellishments!  I love the vintage photo inspiration this month; you can go in a lot of directions with this.  As you can see I took off on the pink rose and kinda went wild with color!
I started out with a tag from the Large Tags set and painted that with white gesso.  Then I used Ken Oliver's Color Burst to create that vibrant background.  I am just loving these brilliant bursts of color!

The twist calls for handwriting so I stamped a script stamp onto white card stock, also colored with Color Bursts.  Then I cut it to fit in the Leafy Vine Frame colored with Lindy's Starburst Mists.  I heat embossed the It's Our Time words with Stampendous Shabby Chic White embossing enamel and fitted that inside the frame.

At the bottom I used the Heart Flourish to frame the word, love, from the Hope Word Set both of which were heat embossed with Stampendous Shabby Chic White embossing enamel.

To finish it off, of course I added some pretty flowers and a bow!
