Steampunk Journal for Creative Embellishments

I made this fun Steampunk Journal for a guy friend using my favorite Steampunk chippies from Creative Embellishments chipboard gears and clocks.  CE has a great selection, be sure to check it out!

To create the rusty look on the gears, I heat embossed them with Emerald Creek Allure Powder in Oil Rubbed Bronze, then I rubbed on a little Prima Antique Brilliance Red Amber wax.

This Grunge Gear Corner is one of my favorite chippies and I used the same process as I used on the gears above plus I heat embossed a few of the gears with Stampendous Aged Silver Embossing Enamel.

This gear clock came from the Steampunk Chain and Gears Frame set and is misted with Prima ColorBurst in Empress Gold.
Aren't these Victorian Wind Up 2 people so cool?  I just misted them with Lindy's Mission Bells Starburst Mists.  Love how he's tipping his hat, I just know he's saying, "Good day ma'm! "

These are the 3 signatures that I made for the inside of the journal.  I jsut added gears to the already gear bedecked Stamperia Clockwise paper.

Other Supplies:
Stamperia Clockwise Collection
Sizzix Little Sizzles - 6" x 13" Mat Board

Thanks so much for joining me today, I appreicate it so much!!

Art Journal for Creative Embellishments

Something new from me today, art journaling!  Ah yes, this is the year of trying new things for me so here I am dabbling in art journaling.  Truthfully, I find it very difficult, but I admire other people art journals so much that I just have to give it a go.

On this first page I first inked with Distress Oxide ink in Worn Lipstick and then stamped with Creative Embellishments Hearts Stamp. Next I added a Scribble Frames that I heat embossed with Ranger Antiquities Rose Quartz embossing powder.  The people are part of a Tim Holtz Ephemera set.  The quote is a rubon from 7 Gypsies.

Then I added one of the Washi Tape Shape Clusters.  I inked it with Worn Lipstick and then heat embossed with Bridal Tinsel embossing powder.

The background on this page was also done with Distress Oxide Inks in Tattered Rose and Work Lipstick and Lindy's Mission Bells Brown. The Mini Frame and words were misted with Prima's Empress Gold.  Then I cut up the Leafy Circle Frame and tucked in pieces with the flowers I used.

I stamped on the background and  didn't like it so I partially covered it with a Mini Frame and managed to make it look like I was framing the heart right?  After all, it IS an art journal, and this is where we play and experiment.  So the stamping was an experiment gone bad!

Some spatters on both pages and that's my foray into art journaling!

Be sure to stop by the Creative Embellishments store, there are so many great chippies to chose from.  AND, did you know that Creative Embellishments also makes stencils, stamps and wood veneer pieces?  Check it out!

Baby Banner for Eileen Hull by Sizzix

Banners are such a fun party decoration that can be personalized with a name or occasion.  I made this one for a baby shower and used both pink and blue for fun!  You can make one for any occasion, take a look at my tutorial below and you'll see how easy it is.

I used Eileen Hull Design's by Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 9PK - House/Pocket Stitchlits to make each of the banners.  The house die is the perfect size for banner making and turned upside down, well, it's perfect!

I cut the BABY letters on my Cameo and they are about 3" tall.  The paper I used is from Graphic 45, it's the much loved Little Darlings DCE set.

In between each large banner, I used  a tag from the Sizzix Framelits Die Set 8PK - Bookmark, Tag & Pocket and turned that upside down too.  On each tag, I pasted a heart cut with the House/Pocket Stitchlits set.  The great thing about these sets is that there are so many dies in each one that allow you to create lots of different kinds of projects!

Supplies:

Graphic 45 Little Darlings DCE
Hug Snug Seam Binding
Adhesive of choice

Tutorial

Step 1:
Die cut one of each pocket and house for each letter in your banner as shown in the photo.  I die cut 4 of each since there are 4 letters in my word, baby.  Ink the edges of each die cut as desired.

 Step 2:
Carefully cut through the center of the holes on the pocket so that you create a postage stamp edge effect.  Then adhere the pocket to the house as shown in the photo. (On the left side you can see the edge before I cut through the centers of the holes.)

Step 3:
Next layer on your letters.  Once we adhere the banners to the ribbon we'll add all the embellishments.

Step 4:
Cut a tag to go between each of the banners using the Bookmark, Tag & Pocket set.  (I only used 3 on my banner.)  Cut some hearts with the heart die included in the House/Pocket Stitchlits set.   Turn the tags upside down and adhere a heart to each.

Step 5:
Now we're ready to put it all together.  Layout the banners with the tags between them and then take enough ribbon to string all the banners and tags and leave extra at each end.  You can use most anything to string your banner, but I suggest something on the strong side.  I used a twill ribbon.  Use a strong glue (I used hot glue) to adhere the banners and tags to the ribbon.  You could also staple the banners onto the ribbon and cover the staples with embellishments.  Then, embellish with lots of flowers, ribbons, tags, you imagination is the only limit!

Little Birdie Flowers and Graphic 45 Floral Shoppe

I think I can safely say that Little Birdie Flowers and Graphic 45 Floral Shoppe were meant to be together as is evidenced by this cheerful hanging plaque!  I've used two different Little Birdie Sparkle Flowers on my plaque and WOW, do they look gorgeous together or what?

I used an ephemera card and a chippy from the Floral Shoppe collection.  I love the quote on the chippie!  I'm entering this in the Frilly and Funkie challenge, "Bloomin' Marvellous".  The challenge is to create a vintage or shabby chic project with flowers as the focus.  I think this works!

Big shout out to Little Birdie not only for the fabbie flowers, but for the chalk board paint that I used on my background too.  They sent me such a fun package full of flowers, paints, glitter and paper.
 Thanks so much!

April Challenge for Creative Embellishments

Time for a new challenge at Creative Embellishments and this is the inspiration photo.  It is so fun, I totally love it!  The twist this month is to use a harlequin pattern and I used gold masking paste to stencil on harlequin patterns here and there.

I love this Destination Quote from the Creative Embellishments store and decided to do a canvas with the quote as the focal point.  I used my go to product, Stampendous Shabby Chic white embossing enamel to color the chipboard. The shabby chic embossing enamels have glitter in them and I love how it sparkes!

The background is my playground, I just dabbed on lots of paint and Distress Oxide Ink until I was happy with the result.  No rhyme or reason, just playing with wild abandon.

I cut up part of a Circle Lattice Panel, embossed it and tuck in with the flowers.  The,  I used Lindy's mists to color the chipboard ferns.

I also used Flourish Set 32 under the flowers, you can see in peeking out here and there.  Its colored with Lindy's mist also, but in a brighter green than the ferns.  I love flowers, so I finished the canvas off with lots of pretty blooms cause I'm dreaming of Spring and I sure wish it would get here!  It's been way to cool and rainy for the south this time of year!
