Graphic 45's Communique Deluxe Collector's Edition

Communique is one of my favorite collections to use for vintage photos so I was thrilled to see it released again as a Deluxe Collector's Edition.  Although you might look at this collection and think masculine, it works well with any photos as you can see with this wedding photo.  You can easily turn a collection that seems to be masculine, feminine, by adding pretty flowers and flourishes.

I've used page corners and the Moments word set from Creative Embellishments to embellish my layout.

Sharing a Petaloo breath of spring!

My favorite time of the year is spring when the cherry blossoms appear and the flowers poke their little heads up above the ground.  Spring comes early in the south and it won't be long before I'll have daffodils blooming in my yard and then quickly followed by my favorite dogwood trees and azaleas.  Until that time I'll be happy with this sweet little tin watering can I made.

To make this project I first painted an aluminum watering can with white gesso just to give it a shabby look.  Then I stuffed newspaper into the watering can so that the bird's nest would have something to rest on.  I took some raffia and formed into a circle and stuffed into the can.  I topped that with a cheap purchased bird's nest and since I was in Florida at the time, I went outside and gathered some spanish moss to add to my nest along with some tiny pieces of bark.  To give it all a cohesive look, I dry brushed the nest and raffia with white gesso and tan paint.
I fussy cut some elements from Graphic 45's Time to Flourish Collection-May Flourish paper, and adhered to the can.

Of course Petaloo's dogwood blooms were perfect as they really illustrate my favorite blooms at this time of year!

I found this sweet little bird in the Easter section at Michaels.

Petaloo's Botanica Blooms in lavender/purple were the perfect flowers to go with my vintage dogwoods and the G45 papers.
The Botanicas are soooo pretty!!

Creative Embellishments layout with Graphic 45's City Scapes

Just after VE Day my Dad left England and went to Paris.  These are a couple of photos that he sent home to my Mom.  He signed the photo on the bottom, that is so sweet!  I've used Graphic 45's new City Scapes collection to scrap these vintage photos and of course used some Creative Embellishments chippies to embellish my page.

In the corner I used a Photo/Page corner set 6.  I simply painted it black.

I used the Explore word from the  Adventure Word Set and heat embossed it with Stampendous aged black embossing enamel.

I achieved the look on the Large Steampunk Clock 6" by first embossing with Stampendous aged black embossing enamel and then added silver embossing powder.

I painted the letters and numbers from the Basic Alphabet set black.  I really like these, they are just the right size.

I love the vintage look of this layout.  I think the black accents along with the black chipboard pieces work perfectly together!

Be sure to visit the Creative Embellishments store often.  Nicolle is always adding new designs!  And, don't forget to enter our monthly challenge, you can find the details in the first post on the Creative Embellishments blog.

An Octopus Garden with Graphic 45 Voyage Beneath the Sea.

I think it's really interesting how inspiration strikes at the strangest times.  I was cleaning my
work table and listening to music when The Beatles song,  Octopus Garden, came on.  I had also just received my shipment of papers from Graphic 45 for CHA creations.  BAM!  Inspriation strikes.  I quickly snatched a pencil and wrote down "Octopus Garden-Voyage Beneath the Sea".

I knew I would need some sea creatures and foliage so I went to the  Creative Embellishments store and got some octopuses, seaweed, and seashells.  I knew those pieces  along with fussy cut images from the Graphic 45 Voyage Beneath the Sea design papers would make a great octopus garden!

I started with a 13 x 13 paper storage box and painted the inside white.  Then I tore strips of the design paper and glued down with matte medium.  Then I did some stenciling over the paper strips.  When that was dry, I sprayed on 2 colors of mist to give it a deep sea look.  Then it was a matter of adding the fussy cut images from the design papers and layering them in with the Creative Embellishments chipboard pieces.  I used foam tape to give the images different heights to create depth in my diorama.  Instead of an ink pad, I used  Faber Castell Big Brush Pens to ink my edges.  It is so much easier to ink all those tiny spots with a pen.

Here's a closeup of the Creative Embellishments octopus (there's a Steampunk octopus available now!)  and seaweed.  of course I added Petaloo Botanica teal blooms because they match this collection perfectly!

Love love love this fussy cut image from the G45 design papers!

A fussy cut octopus and a Creative Embellishments octopus.

Graphic 45's Voyage Beneath the Sea is such a wonderful collection, it's a perfect blend of Steampunk and tropical colors!  It will be available in your favorite scrapbook store soon!

Layouts for The Flying Unicorn Store and Creative Embellishments & a BAP

Sharing a LO that I did with the Authentique Harmony collection from the Flying Unicorn Store and I've put together a Snapguide tutorial for you.  I used Prima's Floral Rose stencil on the background along with white modeling paste.

I fussy cut a couple of the large yellow flowers from the design paper and built a floral cluster using a Creative Embellishments set of branches painted gold underneath.  I cut a yelllow Petaloo Honeysuckle Vine apart and placed the flowers as if they were growing on the chipboard branch and added Petallo Bontanica  minis to the clusters.

Then I finished it off with Petaloo's Darjeeling butterflies and faux stitching around the page with Prima's stiches stamp.

Supplies:
Prima Stitches Stamp
Faber Castell Big Brush Pen - black
Archival Ink - coffee

Here's another layout using Authentique's Harmony collection from the Flying Unicorn Store and Creative Embellishments chipboard.

I heat embossed the chipboard title with Stampendous Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel.  The chipboard frame and border, I just gave a quick coat of white paint.  I love how the oval frame works with a 3 x 5 photo.

I used Petoloo flowers and a Prima resin bird from the store.  I have a supply list at the end of this post with everything linked up.

Isn't this Love Knot Border great?  Perfect for scrapping those you love!

Supplies from The Flying Unicorn Store:

Authentique Harmony collection - Creative, Beauty, Vitality, Growth, Spirit, Energy
Stampendous Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel
Prima Metal Paper Clip Words
