I think it's really interesting how inspiration strikes at the strangest times. I was cleaning my
work table and listening to
music when The Beatles song, Octopus Garden, came on. I had also just received my shipment of papers from Graphic 45 for CHA creations. BAM! Inspriation strikes. I quickly snatched a pencil and wrote down
"Octopus Garden-Voyage Beneath the Sea".
I knew I would need some sea creatures and foliage so I went to the Creative Embellishments store and got some octopuses, seaweed, and seashells. I knew those pieces along with fussy cut images from the Graphic 45 Voyage Beneath the Sea design papers would make a great octopus garden!
I started with a 13 x 13 paper storage
box and painted the inside white. Then I
tore strips of the design paper and glued down with matte medium. Then I did some stenciling over the paper
strips. When that was dry, I sprayed on
2 colors of mist to give it a deep sea look.
Then it was a matter of adding the fussy cut images from the design papers and
layering them in with the Creative Embellishments chipboard pieces. I used foam tape to give the images different heights to create depth in
my diorama. Instead of an ink pad, I
used Faber Castell Big Brush Pens to ink
my edges. It is so much easier to ink
all those tiny spots with a pen.
Here's a closeup of the Creative Embellishments octopus (there's a Steampunk octopus available now!) and seaweed. of course I added Petaloo Botanica teal blooms because they match this collection perfectly!
Love love love this fussy cut image from the G45 design papers!
A fussy cut octopus and a Creative Embellishments octopus.
Graphic 45's Voyage Beneath the Sea is such a wonderful collection, it's a perfect blend of Steampunk and tropical colors! It will be available in your favorite scrapbook store soon!
