Happy Halloween from Cheery Lynn Designs!

Happy Halloween, I hope you get to enjoy some yummy chocolate candies today!  To celebrate with you today, I made this cute giant size tag with Cheery Lynn Designs dies, papers from Graphic 45's Hall'oween in Wonderland Collection, Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks and Prima Color Bloom Mist.

The tag I used is a Tim Holtz medium size Etcetera tag.  I love these giant 6.5" x 12" tags!  To do the background, I first painted the tag with clear gesso and then I rubbed on different colors of Oxide Inks.  Misting the inks with water allows the colors to blend together with a natural appearance.  Then to simulate moon glow, I used Prima Color Bloom mist in Empress Gold.

On the left, near the bottom, I used the Spiderweb Die and a cat from the Witch's Brew 8 Piece Die Set.

Down in the corner we have a creepy black widow spider crawling about her web cut with Halloween Set #3.  I layered some cheesecloth underneath that I dyed with black ink.

The sentiment and the bats were cut with  the Happy Halloween 4 Piece Die Set.  I cut two sentiments and offset one over top the other to make it really stand out.

This cute but frightful witch is part of the Witch's Brew 8 Piece Die Set.  I love how she looks silhouetted against the moon.  Of course I had to add a couple flowers because that is what I do!  At the top I added two black Large Roses misted with gold.

A Christmas easel card for Cheery Lynn Designs with Graphic 45 Seasons

I really love easel cards because they display so prettily.  I used several different Cheery Lynn Designs dies to make this card and I can just imagine how lovely it will look sitting on a mantle spreading Christmas cheer.  I used Graphic 45's new Seasons and Winter Wonderland collections for my design papers.
To make this card really pretty I used lots of layers and popped up two of them.  From the bottom there is a red square, then a holly print layer just peeking out cut with the Pierced Stacker 3.  The next layer is popped up and consists of a square with a Quadrafoil Square Doily adhered to it. Then the final layer, also popped up, is a Seasons cut-apart.
To really make this card pop, I added handmade flowers.  The red roses were made with Large Rose  and Medium- Rose  die sets.  The pretty cream flower was made with Judy's Blooms Die.

I used the Holly Corner underneath the flowers to add the perfect touch to my floral clusters.

Inside the card, the pretty band and popped up tag serve to hold the easel of the card upright.  There's also plenty of room to write a personal message.

This side view shows you how the easel mechanism works.

Creative Embellishments Be Thankful Tag

I have so much to be thankful for and this tag expresses that thought so well.  I used a large Creative Embellishment tag to create this wall hanging.  The tags are about 5.5 x 10" and come in a pack of 3 different designs at the top.

I used Graphic 45's new Seasons collection to make this tag, isn't it so pretty with the rich autumn colors?  In the lower left and upper right corners  I used Creative Embellishments chipboard Pumpkin Corners . I painted the pumpkins with acrylic paints and the vines with Lindy's mists.  I love how they turned out!  The Autumn banner is fussy cut from the collection along with some of the sunflowers.

For the center part of  my tag, I popped up an ephemera card from the Seasons collection and placed a Rectangle Flourish Frame 2  underneath, that has been heat embossed with AC Zing mustard embossing powder.  One of my favorite things about working with tags is that you can create all the dimension you want without having to worry about fitting it into an album.

Cheery Lynn Dimension blog hop Tree shaker card

Welcome to the Cheery Lynn Designs Baby It's Cold Outside Blog Hop! We have a terrific selection of winter themed dies in our store and our design team has put together a great hop to give you plenty of ideas! Grab a cup of joe and hop along with us!

If you arrived from Amy's Blog you are on the right track. If not, head on back to the Cheery Lynn Designs Blog and start from the beginning so you don't miss seeing any of the amazing design team projects.
I've created a multi-layered step card for you today.  I used  our Step Card Bundle Set #4  to make the card base.  This is such a great die because you can cut a step card like this one, or, you can cut a side step card, all with the same die.
I used our Christmas Tree Shaker Die Set to make the Christmas tree shaker that is the top layer.  The next layer is popped up with foam and was cut with the  Nesting Doll- Oval.  You can also use cardboard to pop up your layers, it's a great economical alternative and green too.  I love the added dimension from popping up your layers.

Next is a green layer cut with the Pierced Stacker , also popped up.
The bottom layer is red cardstock and is cut with a Horizon French Flair Boutique Stacker  die.  Then, to really add some dimension, I topped off the tree with ribbon and flower made with the smaller flower in the Floral Bouquet Kit.  To finish it off, I tucked in some greenery diecut with the Wreath Strip 7 Piece Die Set  and added another flower and small tag near the bottom.

In this photo you can see the dimension created by popping up the various layers.

Remember, there is a $20 Cheery Lynn gift certificate prize to be won by some lucky person!  It is awarded randomly to a lucky comment who answers one or more of the questions on the Cheery Lynn blog. My Personal Traveler's Notebook!

I will admit that I am seriously addicted to making these fun notebooks!  The one I'm sharing today is  special though, as I've made it for my own use on an upcoming vacation.

I recorded a video walk through of the entire journal so that you can see all the pages, tucks and tags.

I used Eileen Hull's Travel Journal die by Sizzix to cut the covers.    I love the size of this at 4.5" x 8.5".  In addition to papers from Authentique's Explore collection and a 6" x 6" pad of Authentique's Pastime, I used a lot of scraps from my scrap bin to make pockets, tucks, and tags.

It has 3 signatures held in place with elastic bands.  Using elastic bands to hold your pages is a real time saver when making this style of notebook or mini as you do not have to individually construct and adhere each page.  I love that I can take a piece of paper, score, fold and then place it in my book!
Usually I either sew or staple the pages in my signatures but sometimes I do not.  That allows me to easily add and subtract pages.

Christmas Card with Cheery Lynn Designs

Do you make your Christmas cards every year and have you started on them yet?    I have a few and here's a simple card layered with some Cheery Lynn Designs diecuts and the new Graphic 45 Winter Wonderland collection.

The bottom layer is the card base and it is 7" x 5 3/8".  Next I used a cream cardstock base cut with Rectangle Classic LG Purple Stackers Nesting Dies 6 Piece Die Set - XL16 and then the green print cut with Celtic Rectangle Boutique Stacker Frames 3 Piece Die Set - DL273.  I love how Cheery Lynn's dies are sized to perfectly nest with each other.

The top layer is a Graphic 45 Winter Wonderland ephemera card that I diecut with the Rectangle Scalloped LG Silver Stackers.

For the sentiment I used the Merry Christmas Set 2 Piece Die Set layered over the Vintage Bracket Shape.

Master Detective Passport Mini for Creative Embellishments

Yep, it's time to call upon Sherlock Holmes to solve the mysteries of the ghosts, ghouls, goblins, and witches stirring about this time of year!  And who better to call upon than Sherlock Holmes?  I am loving Graphic 45's Master Detective collection paired with some awesome chipboard pieces from Creative Embellishments.
On the front cover I used a couple of pieces from the Detective Set. The mustache is painted black and the glasses are misted with Prima Empress Gold.

I diecut Eileen Hull's Passport Journal to make my mini and I recorded a video flip through so you can see all the pages.

The Passport Book has 3 signature inserts and on the cover of the 1st signature, I used two more pieces from the Detective Set.  The Detective Set is such a great set with 8 total pieces of chipboard.

On the next signature I used a spider from the  Spiders set and a web from the Mini Webs set.  The spider is painted black and the web is heat embossed with Stampendous silver aged embossing enamel.

Creative Embellishments October Challenge

Here it is October, already...Well the good thing about that is that it's a new challenge at Creative Embellishments. I love the skeleton inspiration photo! The twist this month is to use just black and white.

This is my favorite creative time of the year as I love making all things Halloween. It's just so fun and it can be grungy, cutsy, whatever you like!
First I made a card for the challenge featuring a scary witch from the Halloween Witches set ,flying with some wood veneer bats (Going Batty).  The witch comes in a great set of 3 different styles.

Inside I added a cool cauldron (Witch Set) with a bat (Bats) watching over the bubbling.  I painted the cauldron black and then used white paint mixed with a little black to create the bubbles.

Next up is a tag from the Large Tags set, I just love these tags; they come 3 in a set and are 5.5" x 10".  They are great to use when you want to make an art piece but want to use something other than  a canvas.
I started by covering the background of the tag with Authentique's Mysterious collection.  Then I stamped on some paint drips with the Paint Splat Trio Stamp set.   Then I stenciled on the spider web and Halloween sentiment using the Halloween Stencil.

This Skeleton is one of my favorite Halloween embellishments.  I used a Ranger paint dabber
to color him.

Of course I had to add a big ugly spider!

I hope you'll join in our challenge this month.  All you have to do is upload your project to our blog.
You could win a gift certificate to the store!
