Creative Embellishments Border Crossing Layout

Summer 2019, we went back to Alaska in our motorhome.  We lived in Fairbanks, Alaska 1995 - 2000 and completely fell in love with this wild untamed state.  Our last trip was in 2010 so we were super excited to return!

We crossed the border on June 12 and it's really ironic that we also crossed the border on our 2010 trip, on June 12th!

The main paper is a specialty paper that i bought in Alaska.  The embellishments are 49 and Market.

I mounted the tiny Alaska license plate embellie on a heat embossed washi tape cluster.  Those clusters work so well to hold titles.

I framed my picture with the Infinite Circle Frame (inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink) and added some pretty Little Birdie flowers to complement.

Spellbinder's Essential Classic Label.

Here's a die from the Spellbinders Truly Yours Collection, the Essential Classic Label, that has so many uses.  It's great for card making but it could be used on layouts and 3-D projects.  The possibilities are endless because its a label!

I made a simple easel card using 2 different sized labels.  The die-set comes with 4 sizes and each size has an insert that cuts a line of eyelets around the edge making this a really versatile set.

I used the two largest dies and layered one over the other.  I love that the dies are easy to position the dies over a cut-apart as I did for the sentiment.  I used the eyelet insert for both of my die-cuts.

Inside I added a simple band to act as a stop to hold the easel in place.

Thanks or stopping by today, I so appreciate it!  Be sure to stop by Spellbinders and view the Truly Yours Collection as well as all the other great products!

Spellbinders Truly Yours Collection Featuring Paper Couture Dress and Rings Around the Circle

Spellbinders has debuted a great new collection, Truly Yours.  It's a great collection for card making and includes dies that work so well for weddings.

Of course, this collection does not limit your creativity to just weddings, it has many other uses too!  I made a feminine step card that is an all purpose hello friend card.

I used the gorgeous Graphic 45 Elegance Collection to craft this card.

Isn't this dress just the cutest ever?  This is the Pape Couture Dress that is part of the Truly Yours Collection.  It's so feminine and perfect to pair with with the Eiffel Tower Image.

I layered the dress over another die-cut from the collection, Rings Around the Circle.   I cut 3 different sized circles and layered them under the dress and cut-apart.  This set includes 4 nested circle dies so lots of uses for the different sizes!

I love step cards as they display so prettily.  In this photo you can see the step at the bottom and the layers.

A simple inside finish completes the card.  All ready to write a message to a special friend.

Creative Embellishments Camp Life Layout

This was a fun layout for me as I dug into some really old supplies AND the subject is one of my favorites, camping in Alaska!

I used Stamperia's Forest pape collection and this particular page just speaks to me.  I think it's my favorite sheet of paper ever!  It so reminds me of Denali National Park.  The campground (pictured above) we stayed at, is not too far from Denali so, yeah, it all works together!

I used a chipboard moose and covered all but his antlers with adhesive.  I dug way back into a drawer and found some brown flocking and that just worked perfect to give him a nice fur coat!

I applied fiber paste to these chipboard trees and let it dry.  They I inked the trees with Oxide inks and misted between coats.  Finally I misted leavily with Lindy's mists to get the color effect I wanted.

The chipboard title is covered with truffle embossing powder and heated.

Using Unconventional Materials to Make Journals for Eileen Hull Designs

Good morning friends, I have a fun project to share with you today.  This month Eileen Hull's designers are creating with unconventional products.  I chose to make a Passport Book.  Can you guess what I used for my cover?

I used plastic packaging, you know, that stuff we usually throw away!  This is simple; all you need is an embossing folder, plastic, cardstock and matboard (or chipboard).  First I cut the plastic down to size and ran it through my die-cut machine with an embossing folder.  Next I die-cut the embossed piece with the Passport Book die.

Then I adhered black cardstock to matboard and ran that through my diecut machine using the Passport Book die.  I applied adhesive to the black cardstock and adhered the plastic embossed piece to it.  I found that I got the best embossed impression by embossing the plastic without being adhered to anything else.

Now that you have the 3 parts (platstic, cardstock and matboard) assembled, its time for some fun!  I used new products from Sizzix, Luster Wax, to color the plastic.  You just rub it on with your finger.  I blended two colors, rose gold and gold.  It is permanent once dry, and doesn't come off on your fingers.

I waited a few minutes for it to dry and then misted heavily (like allover!) with black ink so that the ink could fill in the crevices and really give the embossed impression definition.  Use a paper towel to blot up the ink

I love the look of the Luster Wax on the covers of this Passport Book!

Inside the book, I used Eileen's new Bookbinding Die to attach pages inside.  This die creates 5 hinges to which you attach your pages.  I just made some simple pages to go inside.

Getting Really Bright with the May Creative Embellishments Challenge!

Time for a new challenge and I loved this one.  The moment I saw the inspiration photo, I knew exactly what paper and chippy I was using!  The twist is to repeat a pattern.

I didn't have a photo that worked with my Graphic 45 Kaleidoscope papers so I decided to do an inspiration piece using an ephemera card. My repeated pattern is the elephant background paper and the elephant chippy.

I adore Creative Embellishments' Elephant Border.  I painted them grey with chalk board paint.  Then I thought they'd be cute with floral collars. Tiny flowers from Little Birdie did the trick!

As usual, I needed some flowers to complete my look.  I used large corner flourishes underneath the flowers.  I painted the flourishes orange and then misted with a bright flourescent mist from Lindy's.

I can't wait to see your take on the inspiration photo!
