Mojo Monday Sketch at the Flying Unicorn

Every Monday we have a new sketch  up at the Flying Unicorn.  Alda did today's sketch and as always, its a beauty!  The Flying Unicorn invites you to use our sketch anywhere but we'd love to see what you do with it.

I used the January KOM and a few things from my stash to interprete the sketch.  I love the Jodie Lee art journal papers that are included in the kit.  They are so perfect for mixed media applications and I've used plenty on this layout.  I used the mask and masking paste from the kit as well as the Lindy's mists and some paint too.    From my stash, I used Viva Maya paint  in olive was used to paint the roman numerals and dabble on the Flying Unicorn flower adornments.

We have some fun challenges running this month and I also did this layout for our January One Little Word challenge.  My word is Change and I've illustrated that with a photo I took at the Bay of Fundy in Canada where the tide changes some 55 feet every cycle.  This photo was taken at low tide, and where the people are standing in the photo would be completely covered with water well over their heads at high tide.

Then I included a photo of myself and a subword, control, to indicate that I have control of my life and it is up to me to make a change in my life.

Mojo Monday sketch at the Flying Unicorn

It's Mojo Monday and like every Monday, the Flying Unicorn Forum has a new sketch challenge to help you get your mojo flowing!  This great sketch was designed by Tammy Henderson and is a great play on circles!

This sketch is so gorgeous, I just decided to follow it closely.   I used Bo Bunny's The Avenues collection papers; they are perfect for vintage styling!  First I did some masking with Prima's new Bubbles stencil and then I sprayed the page in random spots with Lindy's Glory of the Seas Gold.  I used a an 8" Wilton doily in the back and then cute several sizes of circles, 5" and 6", that I then punched around using two different Martha Stewart corner punches.  I also sprayed a 6" Wilton doily with Lindy's Glory of the Seas Gold.  I took one of my 6" circles and cut out the center leaving only the punched edge and adhered that to the 6" doily to create a frame effect.

I added Dusty Attic chicken wire heat embossed with Stampendous aged gold embossing enamel and then completed my look with the fabulous new amber Petaloo Textured Elements flowers and Mini Blossoms.  I can't tell you how much I love these flowers, I ordered them in every color!  Underneath the flowers I used some Flying Unicorn Adornments as leaves.

Since photographing this, I added some journaling to the War Bonds tag, it says:
Mom at the Roll of Honor, she purchased bonds dedicated to Dad during WW II.  Sign says, "Names on the Roll of Honor represent War Bonds purchased by friends and relatives and dedicated to their loved ones in the service."

Here is my take on the sketch, I  flipped it from left to right.  I kept it kind of simple because I think the Prima Divine paper is so pretty, I just didn't want to cover it up!  The papers are from the May Flying Unicorn KOM.  As always it is a fabulous kit, full of scrappy goodies! I add the Prima flowers, berries and leaves from my stash; well actually,  they came from Jen's stash, LOL!!

I added some texture by using Prima's Static mask, that mask is becoming a favorite of mine!!

Mojo Monday at the Flying Unicorn!

Every Monday we post a new sketch in the Mojo Monday Forum at the Flying Unicorn to inspire you!

Alda did this gorgeous sketch, it is perfect for the photo that I wanted to scrap!

I used the February Flying Unicorn KOM mostly for this layout and added just a few things from my stash.

I used a ScrapFX circle chippy to accent the photo.  The leaves on the chippy are painted with Viva 3D lime green paint.  I don't know why its called lime green because it is not at all lime colored!  The floral part of the chippy I heat embossed with Stampendous shabby pink embossing enamel and then just touched the centers with peridot Mix'd Media Inx.

I added the Petaloo pink floral vine from my stash, the other flowers came in the kit.  The journal ticket is from the KOM August, 2012, Kaisercraft LakeHouse.

Supplies - from the February KOM:

Mojo Monday at the Flying Unicorn!

Every Monday the creative team posts a new Mojo MOnday sketch and an example LO done with the sketch.  Check it out here, it's a great place to find some inspiration.  Of course for Christmas we have a beautiful Christmas themed sketch that Alda designed.

Here's my take on the sketch,  I flipped it as that worked better for my photo and chosen embellishments.  I used G45's Nutcracker Sweet collection, available from the Flying Unicorn store.

I used WRMK's Lucky 8 Classic Wreath to make the large plaid  diecut amd then cut 3 circles and layered them in the center.  I used a Martha Stewart corner punch (deco fan) to cut around the largest circle.

I used my favorite product that I discovered this year, Stampendous embossing enamel  in aged hunter green on the Dusty Attic chippy below.  These enamels come in more than 13 colors and are just so perfect to use on chippys!!  Take a look at these enamels  in the store.  I know we are out of some colors but I bet they are on order!

The flowers are Prima poinsettieas from my stash, got them last year.  The trees are just some triangles that I cut from the Nutcracker Sweet collection.

Supplies:
Bazzill green cardstock
Patterned paper:   G45 Nutcracker Sweet collection:  plaid-Endearing sentiments; lg green sq-festive fairytale; red circle-Clara’s dream; outerborder-Nutcracker Sweet; dotted green-holiday magic; Nutcracker Sweet stickers
Chipboard:  DA0543 –baroque corner; G45 Nutcracker Sweet Tags 1
Diecuts and punches: WRMK Lucky 8 Classic Wreath; Martha Stewart Deco Fans
Flowers:    Prima Holiday Crimson
Ink:  Prima moss lawn; Distress black soot, shabby shutters
Other:  Stampendous aged hunter embossing pwder on DA chippy; TCW mask; Pebbles cream chalks earth tone shades

I hope you'll try this sketch and if you do, please post your creation in our Mojo Monday forum, we'd love to see it!

Mojo Monday sketch - Flying Unicorn

I love Mojo Monday sketches at the Flying Unicorn.  They are sure to get your creative mojo going!  This great sketch was done by Creative Team member Tammy Henderson, its a beauty isn't it?

I flipped the sketch from side to side as that seemed to work better with my photo.  The great thing about a sketch is that it gives you a jumping off point.  Here's my interpretation of the sketch.  It's the 2nd LO in my unusual telephone booth series.  This photo was taken on the Olympic Penisula in Washington state. I used G45 Botanicabella papers for this, perfect colors and theme for my photo.

This is a Manor House Creations flower that I misted with Lindy's Moonshadow emerald mist.  You
can just see a hint of the emerald color here and there.  It is more vivid IRL.  I love that Manor House flowers are so easy to mist.

We have a lot of great Mojo Monday sketches, be sure to stop in and check them out.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I sure appreciate it!

Travelling....again

Hi everyone, we are on our way to Illinois to spend some time with Dick's family.   It's a long drive from NC to Illinois so I had to find something to do!  I've been wanting to try my hand PSE, I don't know enough, LOL!!  I used Printmaster which is a simple inexpensive graphics program that I have used for years!  I would love for you to use my sketch and please tell me if you do and leave me a link, I'd love to see your interpretations of my sketch.

Mojo Monday sketch - Flying Unicorn

Check out this fabulous Mojo Monday sketch posted this morning at the Flying UnicoTrn.  Give it a try and be sure to post it in the gallery and Mojo Monday thread!

Here's my take on the sketch. Its a great sketch for multiple photos.

I used the February kit for this layout and added the 12 x12  pink BasicGrey doilie over Core'dinations cardstock that came in the kit.  The other papers are all from the kit, Fabscraps and Kaisercraft.  The largest flower is a Prima from my stash, the others are from the kit. The black accents and tag are Creaqtive Imaginations Narratives cardstock stickers, also from the kit.  I used a Sizzix die to cut the leaves, "branch with leaves", it is definitely one of my favorite dies.

Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate your comments so much!
