New Challenge at Creative Embellishments

Time for another photo inspiration challenge at Creative Embellishments.  Our challenges are so fun because you can do any type of project and you could WIN a gift certificate to the CE shop!  All the details about our challenges are on the CE blog in the first post at the top.

The inspiration photo this month is a John William Waterhouse painting and it inspired me so much that I decided to use it as the focal point on the box that I altered.  We always have a twist with our challenges, and this month it's to use roses.  That's pretty easy for me as I find it really hard NOT to use flowers and I've used Petaloo's Fairy Rose Buds on this box.

I've recorded a video tutorial for making this box.

Some of my favorite products in the CE store are the flourishes and I've used two styles on my box.
In the corners on the top, I've used the Flourish Page Corner set underneath my roses.  I used my go to product, Stampendous Aged Embossing Enamels - Taupe, to finish off the flourishes.  I love how the flourishes look peaking out from under the flowers.

The papers I used are from Graphic 45's new collection, Little Women and the box is the Deep Square Matchbook Box from the Graphic 45 Staples line.

On the sides of the box I used Flourish Set 19 and heat embossed with Stampendous Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel.

The box has a drawer that pulls out and there's plenty of room inside for a mini album or a collection of cards.

  1. Love this box. Your mixing and matching of CE, Graphic 45 and the flowers results in such a beautiful creation. Your box inspires me to try making one myself. tfs

    1. Thanks Helen, it is easier to cover these boxes than it may look. Give it a try!
