June KOM from the Flying Unicorn

My favorite date of the month is the 3rd!!  Why, you say?  Because it is reveal day for the Flying Unicorn kit, yippee!  I loved this kit with its eclectic mix of papers from Bo Bunny Country Garden, Prima Fairy Belle and a mix of Kaisercraft collections.

As always, the kit includes an off the page project and I had so much fun with this.  I needed to break out of the soft and pretty mold and do something bright and fun!  I collect chickens and my kitchen looks like a chicken coop so I thought lets add more chickens!  Here's what I came up with.  I stained the edges with Distress Vintage Photo  and papered the interior with some really old paper that I had that was perfect for my "coop".  That rusty little bird house comes in the kit, I love it!

I made the hens' nests from the brim that I cut off of a doll's straw hat. I just put a blob of hot glue on my craft mat and pressed in the bits of straw.

This was a really fun project and best of all, it comes with a clear cover so that I can put this in my kitchen without worrying about it getting all greasy inside.

June is the month of brides and I was drawn to do some wedding layouts.  I love this picture of Dick's parents on their wedding day.  We recently acquired the photo from Dick's aunt. Sadly Dick's Dad was killed in Korea in 1951 which is why I have backed the photo with the telegram paper.  The Dusty Attic bookplate is from my stash but I have painted it with heirloom gold that came in the kit.  The light color flowers are handmade using the McGill Floriano punch and the blue flower is from my stash.

This is our new grandson!  I did this layout using Kaisercraft Secret Bird Society that came in the kit.  The large beautiful bloom is from Manor House.  Everything except the camel colored braid is from the kit.

It really is a gorgeous kit, if you run over to the store right now, you might be able to get one!
Thanks for visiting my blog and if you stop by tomorrow, I'll be sharing more KOM creations!
