Becca Feeken Beautiful Sentiment Vignettes from Spellbinders

I have two new beautiful die sets, Beautiful Sentiments Vignettes, from Becca Feeken to share with you today.

First I went the traditional route and made a card with this beautiful set.  It's so elegant!  This is a simple card, I just mounted the die cuts on white card and mounted on a patterned card base.

To embellish, I added a simple fussy-cut hat on the left with 3 small flowers.

I used Stamperia's Grand Hotel paper collection for the card base and fussy cut hat.  The right card side is  1.25" wider than the left side to add some extra color to the front when it is folded flat.

For a different spin on these beautiful dies, I made a layout using the Heartfelt Thanks Vignette dies as a frame to hold 2 photos on an 8 x 8 layout.  The paper is Graphic 45's Dreamland.

In this photo, you can really see the detailin the die-cuts. Instead of using the frame in the vertical position, I used it horizontally.

There are so many pretty vignettes in this collection.  You can see them here.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Wildlife on our Road Trip Layout

Drving the Alaska Highway is an amazing experience for all the wild life you will see, especially in British Columbia.  This is just a small sample of all the animals we saw.

I used circle frames to highlight my photos.  They are just inked with Distress Ink.  In the center I made a tag enumerating the animals we saw over a 2 day period.  If you are wondering how I get the wording on the tag, I print onto transparency paper and then glue to the paper.

At the top, I used the Pinecone border that is also inked with Distress Ink.

I used two different word sets for the title.  Both are heat embossed with embossing powder.

Eileen Hull Designs Travel Journal "Adventure"

It's vacation time!  Hurray!  I' so glad to see some semblance of normal slowing returning to the world; it seems that everyone has cabin fever and is planning a vacation for the year.

Since we are heading out west in our motorhome, I wanted a journal to make notes about campgrounds we stay in and a daily diary.

I recorded a video to show you how to make the closure and how to make a couple of the pages inside.

I used Eileen's Book Binding Die to add two special pages to my jounal.

On the inside front cover is a vertical tuck pocket.  On the right side is a pocket made using Eileen's Notebook Pocket XL Die.  I changed it up a bit and made the pocket flat.  I'll probably slip some note paper in there.

The 2nd page on the left below is actually an envelope where I stuff receipts, tickets and that sort of thing.  Since it has a flap that is secured with a magnet, I don't have to worry about losing things.  (See how to make this page in the video.)

The right page is just open tuck spots that are great for reminders, grocery list etc.

I made two signatures for my journal and they are secured with elastic bands.  I will use one signature to do daily journaling and the other I will use to make campground notes.  (I purchased the signatures and adhered design paper to the covers.)

In this photo you can see part of the velcro closure.  I made a similar notebook for our travels in 2019 and used the velcro closure.  It worked out quite well.

Road Trip Layout for Creative Embellishments

I love a road trip and this layout is all about our trip to Alaska in 2019.  We drove from our home in Tennessee all the way!  The highlight of the drive is the Alaska Highway and the photos here show the beginning and ending of the highway.  Once again I am using a flat format so this page will actually fit into a scrapbook!

Every good layout needs a title right?  I heat embossed this Creative Embellishment word set  with detail black embossing powder.  I think black is a perfect accent color on this page.

I used Stamp Frames that are also heat embossed with the cut-apart and map.

Now I'm having a good chuckle as I wanted to be sure to include the length of the Highway and looked it up on several sources, 1,387 miles.  And...I just noticed that it is printed on the map, 1,390 miles. HA! Well then, there is a perfectly good explanation for the discrepancy.  You see, they are always working on the Highway and straightening it out which changes the length of the Highway from time to time!

Just a little history.  The Alaska Highway was built during WW II in 8 months and at the time it was 1700 miles long.  It was quite an engineering feat and is a testimony to the diligence of those involved in building it.  They faced seemingly unsurmountable problems, yet they perservered.  The road used to be a twisty, gravel road.  But today, it is a nice drive, with the only problem being the occasional frost heave in the northern parts and the never ending road construction!

Time for a New Challenge at Creative Embellishments

Welcome to another fun challenge for Creative Embellishments.  This is the inspiration photo and the twist is to add gears to your project.

I was inspired by the colors and clocks in this photo so I created a large tag using Stamperia's Clockwise paper and rice paper collections.

I covered the bottom of the tag with rice paper using clear gel to adhere it.

To meet the twist, I added acrylic gears from Creative Embellishments.  I used black gears and then highlighted with  Sizzix Rose Gold Wax.  I love the effect that created!  The acrylic gears really stand out because they are so thick at 1/8".

I like the look of a dimensional tag so I gave this one a wrinkle and used foam tape to hold it's shape.  Again I used stacked acrylic gears.
