Inspirational Tiny Book and Case using Eileen Hull's Tiny Book Die and Book Case

Eileen Hull has done it again with the Tiny Book and Book Case dies.  The book fits into the case of course, and is palm sized at about 3.5" x 2.5".

The beautiful paper you see on my book and case is Bellagio cork paper and it is GORGEOUS!!!  This cork is just so incredibly pretty and it's real cork but at the same time it is durable and versatile.  It's nice and thin like paper.  It is available at Amazon and  Walmart.com and packaged in the Notion Department of Hobby Lobby.

This is not my usual flowery overdone work, but gosh, this paper is so gorgeous, it just doesn't need a lot of embellishment!  I made a simple band embellished with a silver flower to slide over the case as a closure.  It's neat and I think, elegant.

The front of the Tiny Book is embellished with a die cut pocket and tag

The Tiny Book is just a little inspirational book with a few quotes inside.  It would be a perfect little gift for a friend.

I made the pages with an accordion folded paper strip.

Tutorial

Use  matboard or chipboard to make the book and case.  Cut the matboard so that it covers the dies and then select paper for both the inside and outside of the book and case. Cut the paper the same size as your matboard.  Apply adhesive to the paper BEFORE die-cutting.  Adhesive sheets work really well for this as you get full coverage whereas when I use glue sometimes the corners don't get properly adhered.

After applying adhesive to the paper, adhere the paper to the matboard on both sides.  Place the front side down on the die and run through your die-cutting  machine.    Assemble the box using a strong double sided tape like Eileen Hull's Red Liner tape by Thermoweb.

To make the band cut a piece of lightweight chipboard (or use heavy weight cardstock) 1" x 8 1/8".  Score at 2 1/2", 3 3/8", 6", and 6 7/8".  Wrap around the box and place velcro on the ends to make a closure.  The band does slip off without opening the band so you can make the band one piece without an opening if you want.

To make the booklet for the inside, cut a piece of cardstock or design paper 12" x 2 15/16".  Score at 2 1/8", 4 3/8", 4 5/8", 6 7/8", 9" and 11".

On the back side, place double-sided adhesive between the 4 3/8" and 4 5/8" scorelines.  This will be how the booklet is secured to the cover.

Fold up accordion style and decorate the panels as you wish.  Then adhere the inside the Tiny Book along the spine.
