Tutorial for a Double page layout with Botanicabella

Today, I've returned to my roots and created an almost clean and simple double page layout!  When I first started scrapping, I usually did 2 page layouts and I always included journaling.  I must admit, I have missed the story telling and the creation of layouts that serve to preserve a memory so here I am today returning with a double page layout and a Snapguide tutorial BAP (build a page).

I want to share with you my journaling in hopes that it might inspire you to include your stories on your layouts.  You've probably experienced looking at an old photo and wondering who's in the photo, or perhaps what the story is, behind the photo.  I urge you to leave that legacy for your heirs so they will know your story.  You know, 30 years from now, you might not remember the circumstances behind every photo, so there's another reason to journal.

My journaling:
The last leg of our 2010 Alaska vacation was a drive down the Cassiar highway through Canada.  We had to be escorted in a caravan down part of the highway  as there had been forest fires all along the highway.  We could see fires still smoldering here and there.  The Cassiar is a magical drive through pristine forest with very little civilization around you.  It was sad to see the burn from the fires but really,  fires rejuvenate the forest and I know that in a few short years the forest will come alive again.

On our way through Canada, we took a side trip to HyderAlaska, the eastern most Alaskan town.  It's a small (population less than 100) town completely surrounded by Canada on the coast and has no roads that connect to any other part of Alaska.  You can fly in, come by sea, or drive through Canada to get there.

Our reason for going to Hyder was to observe bears at the Fish Creek Forest Service Observation Site.  From July through September, Fish Creek is a spectacular spot to view black and brown (grizzly) bears in their natural habitat, feeding on spawning salmon.

We spent many hours on a viewing platform observing a Mama bear and her spring cub.  Oh my gosh, that cub was just the cutest.  She was teaching him to fish and so far, he was not having a lot of luck.  The fish were quite large and he just couldn't catch them.  At one point she caught a fish and gave it to him to wrestle but the fish won and got away.  Then, I guess he was being a bad little bear cub 'cause she hauled off and smacked him on the nose, LOL!!  I guess kids will be kids no matter the species.

Now, I'm thinking, that if you had not read my journaling, you might have thought my photos were stock photos that I had no emotional attachment to.  Now you know, I walked among the bears!
