Like so many young people of that age, my parents married during WWII shortly before Dad was sent to the Europe. After the war, they built a home together and spent their life together illustrating true love to their families and friends. They endured the challenges of separations while Dad was in Vietnam twice, Korea, Nepal, and temporary duty stations throughout the world. During those times, Mom was always a rock for us kids, never letting us see how difficult those times of being a single parent were for her.
We celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary today and what a joy it is to have them both with us still today. How lucky we are to have been blessed with such fine parents and even more important, such wonderful role models.
