Swirlydoos LO - July kit

Wow, I am sooooooooooooooo far behind in my posting and commenting! I did this LO about a month ago for a challenge at Swirlydoos to use misting, masking & Gesso on a layout.  I don't know what I've been doing all month but it hasn't had much to do with SBing much to my chagrin!!

The July Swirlydoos kit had some of my favorite papers in it, Pink Paislee's Butterfly Garden.

For the mask, I used  the DA piece and olive vine glimmer mist. I used clear gesso on the hearts border strip and then painted with Shimmerz and Glimmer mist. The clear gesso acts a little like a resist and gave the mottled color look.

The photo is of my Mom, two of her sisters and a cousin. All of the girls lived together in Washington DC during the war. I call it spirit b/c I think it took alot of spirit for 4 country bumpkins to move to the big city like that! I can imagine that my Grandparents were having a fit!    Thanks for visiting my blog and I always appreciate your comments!!
