Flashback 2024 for Eileen Hull Designs - My Favorite Projects

Can you believe it's December?  It's such a busy time of the year that we designers get a break, and instead of creating something new, we share our favorite projects from the year.

Here are mine! The Sewing Box

This is such an adorable box and is a perfect replica of the full size boxes that many of us have.  Here's a link to a full tutorial to make this box.

I love how this opens up with all those little drawers.  They're a great place to store little bits and pieces.

The Mini Book

I adore this little book, its just so cute!  I made it from with the Eileen Hull Designs by Sizzix Scoreboard Mini Book and enlarged it by adding oversized pages.  See the details in this post.

It has 4 pages that are 3" x 4" AND each page hold a 2 1/4" x 3 3/4" tag!  There are fun little places to tuck notes and small photos too.

Oversized Tag (5.5" x 10")

I love bright colors and the paper collection (Graphic 45's Lets Get Artsy) really spoke to me, so I created this large tag as a little art piece for my studio.  All the details are here, in this post.

I really built up the layers so it would have lots of dimension.

And that's a wrap for 2024!  I wish you all the love, joy, and happiness possible in this holiday season.

xoxo Maggi

A Calendar Journal Made with Eileen Hull's Mini Album

This will be a handy journal for me next year as its a calendar with places to note coming events etc. I used Eileen Hull Designs Mini Album Scoreboard XL Die by Sizzix (a recent vault release).  There are
3 signatures and 2 pages for each month.

I share all the pages in this video and show you how to bind the 3 signatures into the mini.

The pages are all very similar which makes this mini a quick and easy project to put together.

A Christmas Card with a Bookmark from Eileen Hull Designs by Sizzix

Eileen's team has an event, Comfort & Joy, that we like to do every year.   Every year the Team posts projects, tips, techniques, recipes and anything we can think of to get ourselves in a holiday frame of mind.   You can see all the projects posted on the Eileen Hull Fan Club Facebook page.

Here' a little project you might like that makes a cute little gift for your reading friends.  This Christmas card has a bookmark as part of the card face.  I used Eileen's new 17 pc. Thinlits set from Sizzix, Bookmark, Pockets, and Toppers to make the bookmark.

The bookmark die-set includes pockets and decorative die-cuts like the leaves and flower I used. The bookmark slides behind the green layered paper which has been adhered to the base layer only on the sides and bottom.

I topped the bookmark with  charms to "gussy" it up.  I made the gold star charm with Eileen's new Charms Thinlits.  I cut two charms and glued them back to back so the charm would be gold on both sides and to give some extra weight.

Be sure and join Eileen and I on Facebook live November 12.  I'm going to show you how to make a card box that works for any season.

Release Party, Featuring the Mini Album, a Vault Release from Eileen Hull for Sizzix

Welcome to Eileen's October Release Party. This Eileen Hull Sizzix release was designed with journaling in mind! If you have never journaled before, the new release features the Mini Album and 6 other products that work perfectly with the journal. You'll find everything that you need to get going in this new release. If you have been journaling for a while, you will want to add these items to your stash- the pieces are very versatile and will coordinate with many of the other dies you may already have.

The base die is the 5” x 5” x 1” Mini-Album, a Scoreboard die specially designed to cut and score thick material AND it cuts in one pass- so easy and quick! You can also use this die to cut the pages that go inside. There are three accessory Thinlits dies: Floral Pocket and Paperclips, Bookmark, Pockets and Toppers and Charms that cut pockets, bookmarks, embellishments, paper clips, charms and extras that may be used to decorate the pages of the book. There is a stamp set called Fan Favorites with 61 words and phrases to use inside the book, on cards, and tags! Plate and Pattern is a four layer stencil- each layer may be used separately or all together. Create page backgrounds, use on your gel plate, outline and stitch the design on fabric or to trace shapes and fill in with watercolor. The Floral Damask multi-level 3D embossing folder creates a beautiful background useful for journal pages, cards and tags!
Join me in exploring these products at our Release Party on October 22 at noon ET streaming to Facebook, Instagram and YouTube @eileenhull! You will see lots of great ideas and inspiration by the amazingly talented Team and also ask any questions you may have. If you miss it live, you can watch on replay. There will be prizes and lots of fun- please come!

I used the vault release, Mini Album to make a super fun mini designed to hold lots of photos and a journal too!  I used Carta Bella Botantical Garden papers.

Here's a view from the back so you can see how the closure ribbon works.

Here's a peek at a few pages.

Take a look at my video for a walk through of all the pages!

We will also be working with these dies on weekly livestreams- Tuesdays at 6:00 ET and Thursdays at 4:00.

Time for Halloween Projects

Its my favorite creating time of the year, Halloween!  I guess its something about my "inner child" and the great Halloween colors.  Today I'm sharing some projects from prior years to give you some ideas.

This is one of my favorite projects ever!  You can make this, just take a look at my tutorial here.  It makes a great treat box and just by changing up your papers you could make it for any occasion or holiday.

Do you need a fun mini album to capture some great kid memories from Halloween?  Here's an idea for you, a full size mini album measuring 6" x 8 3/4" and nearly 2" thick.  Find all the details in this post.

This is just a fun set of picture frames that I put on my mantle.  Mr. Bones keeps a watchful eye on the spooky shaker ghost on the end!  You can find all the details here.

Be sure to share your projects on the Eileen Hull Fan Club Facebook page!

Another Take on Eileen Hull's Stacking Drawer Die

Eileen's Stacking Drawer Box was designed to fit inside the Treasure Box.  But, those drawers can also stand alone...

Just like this!  I made 6 drawers and put them altogether creating a chest that will hold lots of small trinkets.

TUTORIAL

The chest of drawers is easy to make.  Follow along with my tutorial and make your own.

Step 1:  Die-cut and assemble as many drawers as you want in your chest.  I wanted 6 but you could do 8 or 4 or make it a tall set of single drawers.  Whatever you like!

I chose to add design paper to the drawers after assembly but you could also add design paper to your matboard before die-cutting.

Step 2: After assembling the drawers be sure to ink the edges.

Step 3:  To cover the drawers with design paper, cut a strip of paper 10 3/8" x 1 1/2".  Hold the right end of the paper right at the end of the box and traced the thumb cut out on the paper.  Use a 3/4" circle punch to cut out the thumb notch.

Step 4:  Adhere the paper around the box.   This was a little tricky but the best way I found to do this was to hold the thumb cutout in place and adhere the paper from that point all around the box.  Then I adhered the small portion along the thumb cutout over the wrapped flap.  I hope that makes sense!  I was afraid that if I started at the other end my thumb cut out might not be exactly positioned and I wanted the paper to cover where I wrapped around the corner.

Step 5:  Now glue the boxes together. I started by making a stack of three using scortape to attach the boxes together.  Then I attached the two stacks together, again using scortape.

Now to make the chest nice and neat I cut 2 pieces of thin chipboard to cover each end, 2 1/8" x 5", and a piece 2 1/8" x 6 1/4" to cover the top.  Then I covered with design paper.  So you would cut chipboard  to cover your stack of drawers at whatever size you needed depending on how many drawers you use in your stack.

In this picture you can see the added panels on the sides and top.

The drawers are perfect for holding small trinkets.

View from the back.

You know I had to add flowers!

I dug deep into my stash and found this pretty cameo that I thought added a nice feminine touch.

I'd love to see what you do with all these stacked drawers.  Be sure to post your creations in the Eileen Hull Fan Club Facebook page.  You will need to join the group (if you haven't already) before you can post and be sure to answer the questions when you join.
