Here's a little project that you can quickly complete that's useful and fun! Make a needle book using Eileen Hull's recently released ScoreBoards Die - Needle Book.
The insert in my needle book is magnetized so you don't have to "pin" the needles in, just toss them in and they will stay because of the hidden magnets.
Tutorial -
Let's make this!
Step 1: Die-cut the cover from any material that you like, I used embossed felt. I placed felt on both sides of a piece of foam adhesive and die-cut the needle book. The felt I used was rather thin so that is why I sandwiched the foam adhesive sheet in the middle.
Step 2: Cut a piece of felt about 4" x 3" and sew to the cover down the center spine.
Step 3: Add magnets on one side of the inner felt piece. I used BasicGrey magnets which are thin. The magnets come with adhesive on one side, I just added another sticky dot on the top of the magnets.
Step 4: Fold the two sides together and stitch around so that the magnets are enclosed.
Step 5: To make the closure cut a piece of elastic string and pass it through two button holes and tie underneath the button. You want the string long enough to loop over a button on the front cover with enough extra to tie underneath the button. Then sew the button to the outside back of the needle book.
Step 6: On the inside back cover, hide the stitching with an embellishment. I glued an flower die-cut from burlap over the stitching.
Step 7: Die-cut another flower or embellishment of your choice, and sew a button to the flower. Then glue the flower to the front cover so that you can loop the elastic string over the button, holding the book closed.
Happy crafting!
