Extra Large Spring Tag for Eileen Hull Designs by Sizzix

Hurray, it's spring and it's my favorite season!  I decided to make a giant tag, it's 6.5" x 12" and I think I'll put it in my sun room that I am redoing in blues and yellows.  This paper totally inspired me to redo my sun room.  I'm thinking I might make a tag for each season!  

The background of this tag begins with a layer of design paper.  Then I tore a strip of white corrugated paper and place lace along the torn edge and glued it to the side of the tag.  Then there's a strip of blue patterned paper over the yellow background paper.

The rest of the tag is just layers grouped together underneath the fussy cut rabbit.  Behind the cacti is a Tablecloth embossed panel. The next layer is on the right and is design paper with flowers on it.

Behind the rabbit is a blue layer cut with the Heart Mandala. I added flowers and tucked cacti around the tag as that gives the appearance of dimension to the printed images. 

For the title, I used Eileen's Alphanumeric die to cut the letters and then placed them on a strip of paper popped up with foam tape.

Using Eileen Hull's New Library Pocket to Make ATC's

I had a blast making these ATC's!  They are fun and quick and a great way to use scraps and leftover bits and bobs!  Thanks to teammate  Susie Bentz for the inspiration that got me going on these.

ATC's are sometimes created as set and so this is my alphabet set.  When it's finished there will be 26 ATC's in the set.

Each of these ATC's has it's own pocket which I also had to embellish!  All the pockets and ATCs are die-cut with Eileen's Library Pocket ATC Card and Tabs Die Set (below).  I love not having to cut my ATC's because they are never "perfect".

Q is for Question

I made this set with leftovers!  It's black cardstock embossed with Vintage Buttons.  I rubbed luster wax over the raised image to bring out the details in the embossing.

Instead of misting with water when I embossed the pocket paper, I misted with Lindy's Starburst Mist.  The letters I am using for my Alpha set are die-cut with Eileen's Alphanumeric die.  Sometimes I used the cut out letter and sometimes I used the negative letter as I did on this one.

The stamp on the ATC is from Graphic 45's Typography Collection.  I used silver StazOn ink and doodled the edges with Uniball pens.

More leftovers, I found the wizard and stamped image in a pile of leftovers!

To make this one, I first stenciled a background on the ATC and then added the wizard image.  The pocket is embellished with a die-cut and stamped stamp.

I is for Inspire

This one is cut from a scrap of a Gel Press Print that I made.  It's stamped with a Graphic 45 Inspire stamp from the Typography collection.  I added a piece of torn paper, some washi tape and bling.  That's it.

D is for Dog (of course!)

 I used some Authentique paper scraps that are 2 - 3 years old and stenciled a paw print on the pocket.

On the lower right corner of the ATC is a brad that's from 2005 probably and the dog stickers from at least 15 years ago!! I love shopping in my stash!

B is for Believe

This one is made with Graphic 45 Imagine papers.

I just fussy cut a few things and fit them all together.

The hardest part of making ATC's is dialing my brain back and forcing it to think small.  But I find that the more I make them, the more imaginative I get.  I hope you'll get inspired and make some too!

"Music Sings" Tag for Eileen Hull Designs by Sizzix

 For me, tags are just so fun!  They're big enough to have enough space to play on, yet small enough that they're not overwhelming.  So many people ask, what do you do with them?  Well I attach them to cards and you have instant slim line card.  Sometimes I put them on layouts and most often, I just hang them around my studio because they inspire me and make me happy.  

Sometimes I use them to try out new techniques, they are like art journals to me.  I just never could embrace art journaling because paper inside a book just doesn't work for me.  Maybe its because I'm left handed and have fought with that wire binding being in my way my whole life!! 😆

Well then, on to business!  This month's theme for the Eileen Hull Design Team is Wordsoup, Tags & Pockets. It's always up to each team member to interpret the theme however they want. So I just went with, make a tag with words on it.

To get started, I chose a Graphic 45 large tag and covered it with design paper and added some beads at the bottom and bling along the side.

Next I cut layers with the Mandala die and  journal cards die.

Now for some assembly, first layer is popped up with foam tape and then the mandala is glued to that.

It's time to prep the center panel with the sentiment. Music Sings was cut with Eileen's new Alphanumeric Die. This is such a great die, the letters are just the right size to use for titles and they are so easy to read!

I always locate and glue the middle letter first and then add the rest of the letters.  That way I know my placement is centered.  (But be aware that in words like music with a skinny "I" in it, the center is thrown off.  I had to reposition the S so that it was slightly off center.)

I find it easier to cut a thin strip of paper and adhere my small letters to it and then cut the words apart.  Its a lot easier to get the letters lined up this way.

Ok, here's the center panel already to place on the tag. Oh wait, it needs one more thing.  I glued cardboard to the back to pop it up.  I like lots of dimension in my tags!

Just about finished, it needs a few flowers and a bow!

All finished, it's just a fun tag that makes me happy.  I really love music and it does sing to my soul!

Eileen Hull's Pockets and Tags Work on Layouts too!

 Last summer I spent 2+ months touring the Canadian Maritimes.  It was a fabulous trip and definitely is one of my favorite vacations ever!  This year I'll be doing a lot of layouts with photos from our trip.

We were on a tour with 23 others, all of traveling in our own RV's.  It's great to have your own bed and bathroom!   This photo is of us with friends of many many years that joined us on the tour.  We were in Halifax, Nova Scotia enjoying lunch.

When I begin a layout, I first pull out whatever paper collection I'm going to use.  (I find it easier to work with a collection as that way, the colors combine well.)  Then I go through the papers looking for papers that work well with my photo.  I'm realy miserly with my paper so I always go through my scraps looking for things that will work.  Ha, the circle and red strips were papers I had cut long ago for some other project that didn't work out.  Then I move papers and embellies around until I get a rough idea of where I'm going with my design.  Next, I take a photo!  I have learned through experience that being able to refer to a photo gets me back on track when I get lost in my design.

Yes, miserly.  I cut out paper that is going to be hidden by other paper/  In this photo I've cut a 1" frame from black cardstock; no need to waste the 11" x 11" paper that is covered!

Have you used pockets on your layouts?  They are great for hidden journaling, ephemera, extra photos, there are endless uses! I am using a library pocket from Eileen Hull's 2023 Sizzix Chapter 1 Release on this layout as a fun place to put a journaling card.  

I ended up placing the pocket underneath the title, Halifax.  The title is cut with Eileen's Alphanumeric  Thinlit, also from the Chapter 1 Release.  These letters are so easy to read and just the right size for making layout titles.

I also used a Creative Embellishments word, Explore to embellish the library pocket. 

I also framed my photo with Creative Embellishments chipboard accentuated with metal flowers.  I used Stampendous Aged Gold Embossing Enamel to emboss eac h piece of chipboard.  I also enhanced to look of the bronze flowers by adding gold embossing powder to the petals.  Its easy to do, just paint a little embossing ink on the petals with a paint brush, sprinkle with embossing powder and heat.  CAUTION:  Allow the metal to cool down before handling because it gets really hot!

Love Journal with Eileen Hull's Frame Pocket Journal

It's love day and I've made a smashingly romantic journal to celebrate using Eileen Hull's Frame Pocket Journal released in January.  The die cuts not only the journal cover, but also a frame and a pocket.  I've used the frame here on the front to frame the roses.  I've used Graphic 45's Mon Amour collection for this journal which was just re-released!

The closure is a simple elastic band.

Inside, on the front cover, I've used the pocket.  It nicely holds a mini journal.

This journal holds 3 signatures, one for photos, one with lined pages and one with blank pages for any use.

On  the right side you can see the first signature which is designed to hold photos.  I used Eileen's previously release Snail Mail thinlit die and stamps along with Journal Words, Love, from an older Eileen release to embellish the cover.

On the right side I've used the January released Library Pocket Thinlit die. That's a great spot to tuck in a love note.

On the left page I added a pocket die-cut with the Folio Page Pocket Thinlit set (from 2021).

Here I added a waterfall photo section cut with Eileen's 2021 Waterfall die.  I'm so glad that Eileen designs her dies to work together in her many different style journals!

Alphanumeric Die

Eileen also released the Thinlits Alphanumeric Die last month.  It is such a great alpha die, (and includes numbers too!), the size is perfect for titles like this "Love Notes".

I used a flowery fiber piece along the spine.  I love that it hides the elastic bands holding the signatures.

Birthday Cards with Eileen Hull Designs

 Time to make cards for the new year!  This first one is simple, a printed cardstock base (Graphic 45 Cafe Parisian), embossed and inked panel, and then a library pocket holding a card for a message.

I used two products from Eileen Hull's 2023 Chapter 1 release, the Library Pocket and Tablecloth embossing folder. I love the blue embossed panel! It's a 3D embossing folder so it gives a really deep and detailed impression. I swiped a white ink pad over the panel to bring out the embossed details.

Then I die-cut a library pocket and put together for the card front.  Graphic 45 has notecards that when trimmed, fit nicely into the pocket.  You could also tuck in a gift card or cold hard cash!  The recipient would really love this card then!  🤣 A bit of bakers twine, a cake charm and simple flowers complete the look.

Inside I added some fussy cutting, a collection tag and a die-cut label with an  "indulge" word sticker.  The Library Pocket Thinlits Set not only includes the pocket, it also includes 2 tab dies, the label die I used on this card and an ATC die.  That's a great value as you can used these dies with so many things.  The label and tabs work really well with journals.  AND the ATC card with the library pocket, oh my, match made in heaven.  Stay tuned to see what you can do with thrdr two dies.

I thought I'd try a bit of stamping on this card.  I am not a stamper but I do try!  The two birthday cakes and the sentiment were all stamped with Eileen's Maker Forte Snail Mail Stamp Sets and die-cut with Snail Mail Thinlits.

Behind the stamped images is an embossed panel using Eileen's Tablecloth embossing folder, part of the Sizzix 2023 Chapter 1 release.

This is a trifold card, I used some design paper from Stamperia to breakup the cream cardstock.

Once again, I've used the library pocket to hold a sentiment or gift card.
