Graphic 45's Little Women Collection

How well I remember being mesmerized by the Louisa May Alcott's Little Women book series.  I didn't have a lot of friends as a child but I always had my books for friends and this was a fave!

I was thrilled when Graphic 45 memorialized the story with their new release, Little Women.  The colors in this collection are just so pretty, bright and bold, but still vintage.

I made a cute dangle for the spine by threading beads and a G45 Shabby Chic Metal Key Hole onto wire.

 I made the journal cover using Eileen Hull Design's Journal Die by Sizzix.  It is such a fun die and perfect for making Midori styled journals.

 You can place so many photos in this journal. There are lots of  tuck spots, tags and pull outs where you can record your memories along with your photos.

There are 3 signature inserts and each one is designed for holding photos and journaling.

Tip: Save your scraps and use them to decorate the small tags in your minis. Add interest to your minis by adding unexpected elements like policy envelopes and odd shaped papers.  At the back of the 3rd signature, I bound in a G45 policy envelope as an extra special place to hide something!

Happy New Year from Petaloo!

Happy New Year everyone! Are you ready for it?  I'm not, seems like time just flies by way too fast!

I'm starting the New Year off with a colorful banner proclaiming the year 2017 featuring some of my favorite flowers and papers.  Darjeeling flowers have long been a favorite of mine and on this banner I've used mostly flowers from the Darjeeling collection.  (See my supply list at the bottom of the post).    I love bright and colorful so I chose to create my banner from Graphic 45's Off to the Races collection.

The pretty blue flowers are from the Penny Lane collection, all the others are Darjeelings.

I used Graphic 45's Staples tags to make the larger banner pieces.  The smaller banners I cut from design paper and topped each banner with a G45 diecut banner.

 I love layers and I often use diecuts to create my layers.  I love stacking the fun shapes on top of each other and then clustering flowers with the layers.

I tied the banner together with a long length of May Arts Canvas Ruler Ribbon and then I added the smaller banners with tiny clothespins.  Since you can NEVER have too many flowers, I glued some flowers to the ribbon too!

My G45 design team box came the other day and it was packed to the rim with new staples, papers, and beautiful May Arts ribbons; it was a little slice of heaven for sure.   My scrappy bff's were were at my house for a scrappy retureat weekend and they all turned green with envy as I removed each item from what seemed like a bottomless box of  goodies!  I immediately zeroed in on the Enchanted Forest collection and all the wonderful new Staples. 

I decided to use a regular sized Policy Envelope and create a cross between a mini and a card t.  It'll be a great mini/card to include with a shower or wedding gift as Enchanted Forest has some great cut-aparts that work great for those kind of occasions.  

The mini  fits nicely inside the Policy Envelope that I embellished with a new Kraft Imagine Tag.  I backed the Imagine cut out with black paper so that the Imagine word would really stand out, and then I used some cut-aparts and patterned paper to embellish the tag.   I added some interest to the cut-aparts by die cutting one of them with a Spellbinders frame.  Finally I added a pretty bow that I tied with May Arts silk  and leaves ribbons and glued the tag to the front of the Policy Envelope. Who wouldn't love to receive a card in such a pretty envelope?

I love the combination of the blue silk ribbon and green leafy vines.  It's just that little touch of "different" that I love.

The card/ mini is just two pieces of  8 3/4" x 6 3/4" black cardstock folded in half to create 4 pages, giving the mini 8 pages counting fronts and backs.  Then I punched two tiny holes in the center, on the fold, and bound the mini together with a 1/4" piece of May Arts silk ribbon.  I put photo mats in the mini as well as tags for journaling.
