Creative Embellishments and CSI

Creative Embellishments is sponsoring CSI this month and the CE designers are joining in the fun!  I've created this layout for case #196.

My Evidence:
Brads
Gears
circles

My Testimony, a limerick:

Dick had a car that he drove real fast,
Before you'd know it, he was past.
The horn, he liked to blow.
No, he never went slow,
He flew by, like a rocket blast.

My husband restores old cars for fun, but, he doesn't do classic restorations.  Instead, he turns these old cars into streetrods that go fast!  This is a 48 convertible and it's a ratrod meaning it looks old and shabby; however, under the hood is a lot of power.

I found the perfect chipboard pieces in the store to embellish this layout  that I did with Graphic 45's City Scapes.

I made a couple of rosettes from the design paper and topped with a gear colored with gold mist.

To color the chipboard, I just swiped it with a black ink pad.

Other Products Used:
Graphic 45 Cityscapes collection:
Street of Dreams
Crossroads
Well Traveled
Global Odyssey

Flying Unicorn and CSI team up

The Flying Unicorn is teaming up with CSI (Color, Storeis, Inspiration) this month as guest "detectives" and I've solved case # 195 using Graphic 45's new collection, Enchanted Forest now available in the Flying Unicorn Store.  Be sure to go over to the CSI webpage and join in their fun challenges.

I so love the imagery of this collection, who doesn't love a fairy tale?

For my Evidence I present Petaloo Botanica peach mini blooms.

Evidence- animals:  a dragon and a deer in the photo below.

Evidence - string:  May Arts Wired String with Raffia Bows above the banners.

Testimony:

Once upon a time there was a beautiful enchanted forest where two wee fairies dwelled beneath the root of a tree that had pushed up from the earth.  It created a perfect hideaway for the winged beauties.  They spent their time flitting about the forest sprinkling fairy dust over all that lived within, for fairy dust protected them all from the evil fire-spewing dragon that haunted the forest.  Without fairy dust protection, the dragon could set their emerald forest aglow with his fiery breath.

CSI and Creative Embellishments join together!

Creative Embellishments is a proud sponsor of CSI and this month our design team is filling in as guest detectives.

Here's the beautiful color palette for case # 182.

For my evidence I've chosen to present leaves and vines, a diecut poodle (the animal), and scalloped border seen as a layer under my photo and the gorgeous scalloped chipboard at the top of the page,  and a pretty mint green bow.

My testimony is about the final act of kindness we must do for our beloved furbabies when it is their time to cross the Rainbow Bridge.  I'd just like to say a few words about that, it is the hardest thing I have ever done but I am so glad that I have been with my babies when they left this world.  If you are afraid, please believe me when I tell you that it is such a peaceful crossing and not frightening at all.  The first time I was faced with it, I couldn't do it and my dear husband kindly stayed with my girl as she passed.  The next time I put on my big girl britches and accompanied him when we said good bye to sweet Brandy, our shepherd lab mix.  I really can not express to you how glad I am that I was with her, just knowing that both our loving hands were the last things she felt when she passed.  Since then I alone, had to watch Chili pass and then my husband and I said goodbye to our dear Chena.

I know this is a personal decision and I do respect your right  to do it however you can.  But I urge you, stay with you beloved animals until the very end.  They deserve that final act of love and compassion from their humans.

I've used Creative Embellishements fabulous chipboard on this layout!  Stop by the store and check out all our fabulous designs, new products and special sales!

CSI case file 91.

The Flying Unicorn is a permanent sponsor at CSI and this month we are the main sponsor and the creative team is
 participating as guest detectives.

I used 13 Arts paper from the September Flying Unicorn KOM for the base of my page.  Then I used a Mr Huey triangles mask that came in the kit to mask on the background.  A lot of paint dabbled here and there allowed me to incorporate all the colors in the challenge.  I had a lot of fun with this challenge, that's for sure!!

The photo is from our summer 2010 trip to Alaska and is in front of the campground where we hosted for 6 weeks.

The evidence:  wet medium - paint, molding paste, mist
Metal accents - Flying Unicorn butterflies

Testimony (journaling):
Suprise!  We always talked about camp hosting at Denali.  We were shocked that there was no camphost  at Teklanika when we camped there.  We tracked down a Ranger to find out why.  Then we asked for the job, and much to our suprise they gave us the job!  It was 6 weeks of heaven living in God's country, no phone, no internet, no electricity, and no TV.  It was just us, our campers and lots of wildlife!

Supplies:

Patterned paper:  13 Arts Faces of Spring -  Natural Beauty (Sept KOM)
Diecuts and punches: Melissa Frances Die Cut Accents (Sept KOM)
Flowers:    Petaloo Mixed Textured Blossoms teal and amber, Mixed textured mini blossoms amber
Ink:  Distress Black soot
Masks:  Mr Huey Triangles  (Sept KOM)
Paint:      Claudia Hellmuth classic teal, black, altered orange, yellow pastel,
Other:  Glitz Peek-A-Boos Love You Madly (Sept KOM); FUL Metal Adornments, Kaisercraft stamps (Sept KOM)

I hope you give this challenge a whirl, it was great fun!

Here's my take on Case File No. 72.

Evidence:  White doily, leafy vines, metal flowers,
Journaling: 5 Things - Home, Quiet, Retreat, Peaceful, Solitude

This a picture of a pond we built just off our deck in Denver.  We lived up on a ridge and had a spectacular view.  The deck was really the most perfect place to sit and ponder life.  The tinkling water from the waterfall was so soothing after a long hard day at the office.

I used papers from the May KOM, Coffee and Muse.  The Dusty Attic chippy came from the store, the metal flowers are brand new Flying Unicorn Adornments.  They should be in the store next week.  I really love love these flowers!!  The sunflower vine is from my stash.

Flying Unicorn sponsors CSI

The Flying Unicorn is a permanent sponsor at CSI but this month, we're the main sponsor and our creative team are guest designers this month!

Case file No. 71 - I loved these colors, well there is that bright red, and red is my favorite color!!

Here's what I did with this challenge.  The Pink Paislee Mistable papers are perfect for working with all your mixed medias because it is such a heavy weight paper.  This page has a honeycomb resist image on it; I used some gesso to cover part of it so that the resist only showed thru in partial areas,

Evidence:  Lots of circles - from the red stamped circles to the white circles that I made with the bottom of my gesso jar, LOL!!  Then we have that sweet resin bird there and all my papers are distressed as a final bit of evidence.

Testimony:

Its a Beautiful Morning - sung by The Rascals

It's a beautiful morning,
I think I'll go outside a while
And just smile
Just take in some clean fresh air,
Ain't no sense in staying inside
If the weather's fine and you got the time
It's your chance to wake up
and plan another brand new day.

Supplies:

Patterned paper:  PinkPaislee Mistable; blue with masking - Studio 75 Sweet Home 07, GCD Studios Ella Blue collection blue scrap under photo - Raleigh
Flowers:    Petaloo new camelia white; Prima tiny roses
Ink:  Distress scattered straw
Mist:  Dylusions white linen, Lindy's Frosted Forget me not, Yellow Rose of Texas, Lump O Coal Black, Tattered Angels Banana Pudding
Masks:  Prima Lattice 564230
Paint:      white acrylic, Viva Décor 3D Paint Carmine Red

I hope you'll give this challenge a go, these are such pretty colors!  After you've uploaded your creation to CSI, be sure to upload to the Flying Unicorn too!

CSI case #47 - Chena and Escape Kitty in San Francisco

I have been having lots of fun with Chena and Escape Kitty!  Those two are such adventurers.  Well I thought they would turn up in Napa Valley at a vineyard but instead, here they are at Fisherman's Whart hanging out with the sea lions!

I used this weeks color palette from case # 47 from CSI.  This is a great color challenge site, be sure and check it out.

I used the the Sept KOM from the Flying Unicorn for this LO plus some added embellies from my stash.

The evidence -Frames - small Polaroid frame at the top
Greenery - floral leaves
Flourishes - in the Dusty Attic corner pieces

Testimony -Welcome to San Francisco Kitty and Chena!

Hmmm it does not appear that the sea lions have given you a very warm welcome. I mean they are all asleep, you know? Since you’ve never met a sea lion before, I have these words of wisdom for you.

• Do not offend the sea lions, they are bigger than you!
• Do not steal their fish Kitty, I know you like fish but seriously, you are very small and they are very big!!
• Do not push that sea lion in the water that you are cozied up to, that is rude and then the other sea lions might push you in the water and we all know that Kitty hates to get her fur wet.
• Chena do not mock them by barking like they do.
• Do not call them names like Whiskers, Blubbers, and the like, they might call you lunch and that would not be a good thing!
