OTP with the September Flying Unicorn Kit

One of the great things about the Flying Unicorn monthly kit is the diverse range of products included. There's always an OTP - off the page project, and this month it's a fun wooden box that I turned into a girly jewelry gift box.

First I painted the box with Prima paint that also came in the kit.  After that dried, I brushed it with Prima Clear Crackle Texture Paste.  After that dried, I brushed white gesso over it and then wiped it off with a damp towel so that the white remained in the cracks but not so much on the surface of the box

Next comes the fun part and that is embellishing with lots of pretty blooms, beads and lace!

Can't wait to gift this to someone!

Supplies from the September Flying Unicorn kit:

Prima Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint Metallique Pink Blush

Layout with the September Flying Unicorn Kit

You don't want to miss the gorgeous September Flying Unicorn kit filled with Prima's Rossibelle products.  I love the colors of this collection!

Here's a layout I did with Rossibelle. First I masked some crackles on the background with a Prima mask that was included in the kit.  I used layers from the 6 x 6" pad also in the kit behind my photo.

Underneath the photo I fussy cut some flowers from one of the Rossibelle papers and used that to form the base of my cluster.  I filled in with diecut leaves from Spellbinders Romatic Vines die.

I used a Creative Embellishment's  heart shaped frame from my stash and heat embossed it with Stampendous aged copper.  The frame also has some sprigs on it that make up part of the cluster.  The little bird came in the kit and it is also from Creative Embellishments.

The heart is fussy cut from one of the papers.  I used foam squares on either side of the heart to pop it up.

Oh my great niece, she is quite the little miss!  Here's the journaling in case you can't read it in this picture:

6/5/16 - Conversation as she is getting ready for church:
Her Mom: You need to brush your teeth
Mackenzie: and put on lipstick
Her Mom: umph
Mackenzie: What? Every girl needs lipstick in their life.
She is 4. I can't even imagine teenage years with her. BTW for now lipstick means kiddie lip gloss but I'm sure that will change before I want it to change.

Other supplies from my stash:
Petaloo Anemones
Prima Romance Novel clothespin

Layout Creative Embellishments & Flying Unicorn Sept KOM

Hey ya'll!  That's how we greet everyone in the south!  So today, I have a fun layout that I did with the just released September Flying Unicorn kit and some fabby Creative Embellishments chippies and a great grunge stamp!  I've used new Prima Rossibelle papers for this layout.

I started out by stamping all around the edge with the Burlap stamp.  Then I layered some papers under my photo. That cute little bird is from the Birds set.  I just misted him.  I didn't want him to stand out, I just wanted him to be quietly perched there on the flower!

Next came the really fun Brick Pieces.  I gave those a light misting with Lindy's Crow's Nest Copper Moonshadow Mist.

I used two  different word borders.  I also gave these a quick misting with the same Lindy's mist.

Of course, my layouts are not complete until I add lots of pretty blooms.  I've mixed flowers from the Flying Unicorn September kit with Petaloo flowers from my stash.

Here's a simple layout for you  using papers from the August Flying Unicorn KOM, just a couple of layered papers, a pretty Creative Embellishments circle frame and some gorgeous Petaloo flowers for pop.

Petaloo's Botanica blooms are some of my favorites, love these coral ones.

I love to use words for titles  This one is from Creative Embellishment's Girl Word Set heat embossed.

I die cut Prima doilies and layered at opposing corners.

Petaloo Mixed Textured Minis Apricot 1263-208

I love making tags!  I used Studio 75 Alice's Dream to make the tag.

I always use lots of cardboard and foam tape to pop up layers on my cards.  I've used a Sizzix frame for one of my layers.  the pretty corner piece is a diecut from a Cherry Lynn die, Victorian Romance Flourish Die.

Here's a cute way to top off your tags - just a simple ribbon pulled through to both sides and then tied up with a bit of string.

OTP project with the August Flying Unicorn kit

The Flying Unicorn kit always include and off the page project that is sure to put your creativity into motion!  The August kit includes an adorable little row boat for the OTP.  Also included in the kit is an 8 x 10 canvas, so I decided to combine the two to make a fun beach scene using Graphic 45's By the Sea collection.
I built a base for my sand with crumpled paper towels and plaster cloth which is a product that you soak briefly in water and lay over a structure, in my case paper towels, to create dimensional objects. When the plaster cloth dries, it is rock hard.  It's something I had from my model railroad days and its the easy version of paper strips and plaster of paris.  After than dried, I covered it with a thin layer of Viva Stone Art to create my sand.

In North Carolina, our beaches have lots of sea oats and sand dunes so I made sea oats using a Spellbinders Cattails die and glued microbeads to create the seed pods.

I painted the row boat white and then dirtied it up with some ink.  The paddles are just inked.
