Children's Hour Table Setting with Graphic 45

Need a quick but inexpensive way to dress up your Thanksgiving table?  Take a look at my Snapguide tutorial to make some quick napkin rings and placecards for your table.  Use the placecard to print your menu or write a personal message to your guest.  I decided to add a Thanksgiving Prayer to my placecards.

Tips:  To keep these low budget, utilize scraps to make these, but be sure to choose scraps that color coordinate.  To make these quickly, take the assembly line approach and complete each step for all the pieces before moving on to the next step.

Here's the text of the Thanksgiving Prayer if you'd like to use it:

Our Father in Heaven,

A tag with Cheery Lynn Designs

Happy fall ya'll!  Yep I'm a southern gal and ya'll is a real word in my vacabulary!  I've used some pretty fall colors to make a grateful tag using Authentique's Harvest Collection.

I love the Julie Nutting doll stamps and I've used Valentina here to pass on some sage advice.  She is popped up with foam tape and placed over several layers of color.

I started my tag with a dark brown base.  Then I layered on a Celtic Boutique Stacker Frame in a bright orange shade.  Next came a Horizon Coved Rectangle Boutique  Frame in  fall colors print.

Valentina is standing in the pumpkin patch!  I used the Fall Pumpkin Patch die and popped it way up with several thicknesses of foam tape.

I made a couple fall flowers for my tag using the 3D Daisy Flower Die.  These are easy to make, just diecut and roll them up.  A little tip, they are alot easier to roll if you use a quilling tool.  Then I sprayed them with a little Lindy's Starburst Mist to deepen the color and add some sparkle.

To finish my tag off, I diecut some Fall Leaves and tucked here and there on the tag.  That's it; now I have a pretty tag that I can use with a hostess gift.  Wouldn't it be pretty tied to a nice bottle of wine for a friend?

Give Thanks with Petaloo and Authentique!

I have to stop and give thanks for all the good people and things that fill my life. I really need to take the time to count my blessings more often; I think this wall plaque will serve as a reminder.

I use Authentique's Harvest papers along with a plethora of Petaloo blooms.  I can never have too many flowers; after all, I am a flower child of the 60's, LOL LOL!!  So....I started my project by first applying Prima texture paste over a cork cover plate charger.  When that dried, the plate had a crackled effect.  Then I selected several Lindy's Starburst mists in autumn colors and misted the plate.

Next I created a banner with stickers from the collection.  To give those stickers more pizzazz, I mounted them on slightly larger banners that I cut out.  Then I nestled the banner in a bed of Petaloo flowers and burlap flall leaves.

Here you can see the crackled effect over the cork, love how that looks!  For fall color, I mixed in several different styles of Petaloo blooms (see my product list of supplies at the end) along with an older Petaloo berry branch and berries from the leaf berry clusters.  Then I finished it off with a bright bow.

Shaker Cards Blog Hop with Cheery Lynn Designs!

Welcome to the Cheery Lynn Designs November New Release Blog Hop.  We are so excited to showcase our new shaker card kits that were just released!

I made a wedding shaker step card and I love how it turned out!  The dies that make the shaker are in the shape of a cake with a bride and groom topper.  The shakers inside are metal and are part of the Wedding Cake Shaker Card Kit.  I used two different shaker pieces, one says congratulations and the other is a bride and groom.

Here's a closeup of the center panel so you can see the shakers.  There are two dies in the Wedding Cake Shaker Card Kit, one to cut the back of the shaker and one to cut the piece with the cut out.  The shaker card  kit includes all the dies, shaker pieces, acetate and foam; everything you need to make a shaker!

I used Prima Rossibelle papers to make the card along with some white cardstock.  Of course, I needed flowers for my card so I used 3 different floral dies, Medium- Rose 7 Piece Die Set, the flowers from the Floral Bouquet Kit 8 Piece Die Set, and  Judy's Blooms Die.  I layered the flowers over the pretty Ivy Corner Flourish.  You can also cut that flourish apart and tuck in pieces as I did on the left side and to give my leaves a little extra pizazz, I colored them lightly with Lindy's Starburst Mist.

November challenge at Creative Embellishments

November's challenge is all about fall.  Isn't this just the prettiest inspiration photo?

Well I had fall in mind when I started this layout but it kinda took a turn to elsewhere.  But I do have autumn colored leaves, acorns and oak leaves!  The challenge twist is to use something made of wood and I used our wood veneer Autumn Leaves (set of 6) and Fall Leaves (set of 16) on my layout.

I layered our chipboard Acorn Clusters underneath my Petaloo flowers.  I used Lindy's mists to color my chippies.  Mist is so great for coloring etched chipboard because it does fill in the etching lines and the detail remains after coloring.

I really love this title piece,   It's Our Time.  I heat embossed it with ivory aged embossing enamel and layered it over the acorn chippie.

Wood veneer leaves layered over chipboard  oak leaves and acorns.

Happy Hallowe'en in Wonderland with Graphic 45!

I really love making hats and so I thought it would be fun to make a hat with a surprise pop up element.  Alice pops up on this hat just in time for the tea party!

I used a small metal hinge on the back of the hat to attach the top of the hat to the crown.  To keep the circle top from falling inside the hat, I cut the top just slightly larger than the crown.  Alice is only attached to the top of the hat and freely slides in and out of the hat.

I fussy cut several of the characters from Alice in Wonderland and have them staged around the hat intermingled with lots of pretty blooms and pumpkins.

Tips:  You can stand chipboard pieces up like I did on the top of the hat by building a slot from foam tape to hold the chipboard.  Just take a double stack of foam tape and adhere to your surface.  Adjacent to that, add another double stack of foam tape leaving just enough space between the two stacks to create a slot to hold the chipboard.

When building things like this from scratch, use glue that is removable with Undo!  I use ZipDry glue and Scortape, both of which are easily removed with Undo.  Really this will save you much frustration, Undo is my best friend when I'm creating something like this!  Another thing that I like to use is Removable Glue Dots.  They are perfect for trial and error placement but once you figure out where you want something, be sure to adhere with something permanent as those removable dots will not hold.

Happy Halloween from Creative Embellishments!

It's the spookiest day of the year and I've got a frightful targ (that's half card and half tag, ☺) for you and a candy/gift bag that needs to be filled up with treats for my favorite person.

Now this gift bag has been around the block a time or two.  My dear friend Billie, gave it to me  filled with cookies and chocolates and she had recycled the bag from a gift shop!  Now I've recycled it again and I'm going to fill it with treats and maybe a trick or two.  I used Authentique's Mysterious Collection for the background and embellished with Creative Embellishments Skull Corner Flourish.  I painted the skulls with watered down white paint and heat embossed the roses.

I used two flair buttons from Creative Embellishemnts in my floral cluster, the one on the bottom is from the Boo Flair Set and the one on the left is from the Happy Halloween Flair Set.  They are such fun pieces to add some Flair! to your projects.

I used some wood veneer bats to complete my spooky bag.

 You know me, even spooky things need to have pretty flowers so I've added some Petaloo blooms and a fun RRR spider web ribbon.

Now you need a fun card to go with that bag so I've made a jack o'lantern targ.  What's a targ? Well that's my creation that I'm waiting to storm the world.  So far, it's not happening, but oh well.  A targ is a cross between a tag and a card!  I used a Graphic 45 black tag as my background and to that I attached a small purple card layered over a spider web that I heat embossed with silver aged embossing enamel.  I used Creative Embellishments' fun Stacked Pumpkins to decorate my card and another flair piece, also fron the Happy Halloween set.

Instead of tying a bow at the top of the tag, I added another flair button.

I am super excited to tell you that I am joinng the Cheery Lynn Designs design team.  Their dies are just the best I have used, the cuts are so crisp and usually one pass on my Platinum does the trick.  More intricate dies might require a 2nd pass but still, that is awesome!  The paper  releases from the die so nicely too.  All that plus so many gorgeous designs to chose from, WOW, thank you Cheery Lynn for inviting me to join you!
