Graphic 45 tutorial for a tag/card!

I've always struggled with making cards, yet I love to make tags.  Really, that doesn't make a lot of sense  as several friends have pointed out to me!  So I've "invented" a combination tag/card, should we call it a targ???  It opens like a card but uses a tag from Graphic 45's ivory large tag album as its base.

To make this card/tag, you will need:

1 tag from Graphic 45 Large Tag Album 4500849

Graphic 45 8 x 8 Botanical Tea Pad 4500892 - the following pages:

Just Because (both sides)

Flora (both sides)

Hello Friend

plain cream cardstock

Spellbinders Majestic Elements

Martha Stewart Wild Flowers around the page punch

Corner punch

3 eyelets

Pop dots, adhesive foam, or something similar

Ribbon and flowers or your choice

Step 1:

Cut a rectangle 3 5/8" x 7 3/4" from Just Because, clip the corners with a corner punch
Cut a rectangle 4" x 6" from Flora and punch 3 sides as shown with Martha Stewart's Wild Flowers punch (You could use any other punches too or even leave it plain and just distress the edges.)
Cut a rectangle 3" x 5" from plain cream cardstock and round the corners (not pictured)
Cut an emboss a frame as shown from Flora using Spellbinders Majestic Elements or any other frame that you have.  I love layering different shapes together, i.e. frames, circles, ovals, rectangles, etc.
Cut a circle to fit inside the frame from Flora
Select a cut-apart from the Love Notes paper (not pictured here)
Ink the edges of all pieces

Step 2:

Adhere the large green patterned rectangle to the tag.
Adhere the circle to the frame.
Score the left side of the punched rectangle 3/8" from the edge.  Carefully adhere just the 3/8" portion to the left side of the tag.  This forms the top flap of the card.

Step 3:

Secure the top flap to the card with 3 eyelets as shown.

Step 4:
Use foam to pop up the frame

Step 5:

Attach the frame to the card flap off setting it so that the flap opens properly.  Then choose one of the cut-apart tags and adhere to the frame with pop dots or something similar.  I have placed the cut-apart so that it is slightly wrinkled and then curled the corner.

Step 6:
Attach a ribbon at the top.
Adhere the  3" x 5"  plain cardstock inside the card.

Embellish around the frame with flowers of your choice.

That's it, all done and ready to add to a package and write a message inside the card. You know this cheerful tag/card will cheer someone up!

Fabscraps Exciting News!

Oh my goodness, I see my picture on this line up!  I am joining the Fabulicious Fabscraps 2014/2015 design team.  I am thrilled to be joining some good friends and making some new friends too!  Thank you Fabscraps for this opportunity!

A vintage Fabscraps French Heritage layout

The French Heritage collection from Fabscraps is so yummy and I thought it was perfect for this vintage photo of my parents, my older brother and sweet (?) little ole me. I think the photo was taken Easter 1952. Do I look the size of a 5 month old baby?

I made this LO for the Swirlydoos round robin team 1, week 1 entry.  I  did some masking in the backgrouned with a Prima mask and Viva altgold past & then I added some Lindy's Grab a Guy Gold mist for good measure! The metal flower on the right has been liberally sprinkled with Aged Gold embossing powder, love how that looks - molten metal on metal. The two chippies are Leaky Shed Studios and are embossed with shabby white embossing enamel, otherwise some punching here and there. Can't wait to see what my team does with this!!!

Exciting news!

Hey, look at this! OK, time for scrappy vacation to be over, I have missed all my scrappy friends so much and so I was thrilled when Swirlydoos asked me to join their design team!  Swirlydoos is where I honed my skills and learned much of what I know today so I am so thrilled to be going "home" and being part of the fabulous Swirlydoos design team!  My first reveal will be with the April kit ajnd I can hardly wait to get started!

Graphic 45 Design Team 2014 Audition

I am sure that if you follow my blog or know me at all, you KNOW how much I love any and everything that is Graphic 45!  I love bold contrasting colors and seriously, no one does bold  rich, bright and contrasting better than Graphic 45. So here I am,  with my audition for the Graphic 45 design team.   There are so many wonderful and madly talented designers that work utter magic with Graphic 45 that I am just a little intimidated! However, if you don't work for you dreams, they will never come true, so I've given it my best!

1.  Let's begin with the really bold and bright Bohemian Bazaar collection.  I was immediately reminded of my younger years when flower power and psychedelic colors were the rage  when this collection came out!  I was inspired to go back in time and create this piece showing a much younger me at a very carefree time in my life.

I love making flowers and I made these from the Dazzling Delights paper so that they would perfectly blend with my layout.

2.   Birdsong is definitely one of my favorite Graphic 45 collections.  Lots of fussy cutting on this layout; Graphic 45 is always so perfect for trimming out their beautiful images!  

3.  I love this layout I did of my Mom when she was a teenager using Tropical Travelogue.  I made flowers from glassine paper and added some Perfect Pearls powder to give this some luster.  Then I added fussy cut leaves from the collection to complete my page.

4.  One of my favorite color combinations is red, black and ivory; oooh  these papers from Birdsong sure fit the bill.  This is a paper mache trunk that I altered and it's perfect for storing tags and cards.

5.    I loved using the Ladies' Diary collection to make this tag mini with Graphic 45's tag staples.

6.  This is one of my favorite Christmas projects that I did with the Twelve Days of Christmas collection.  The papers were so perfect for making my little drum gift box.  Click here for a link to a tutorial for this project.

7.  I made this tag to go with a gift of home baked goodies for a very special person in my life, my poodles' veterinarian.   I paired an adorable chipboard poodle with the Twelve Days of Christmas collection to make this tag.

8.  What could be better than the Sweet Sentiments collection for making a Valentine's tag for my special man?  Here's a link to a tutorial for this tag.

9.  My favorite projects of all time are these Steampunk dress forms, trunks and hats.  I used Steampunk Debutante for this first dress along with some ruffled ribbon and netting.

 The trunks are fun to make and are great to use as gift boxes.  Here's a tutorial with a template for making them.

When Steampunk Spells came out I knew I had to make a special witch's dress and hat.

10.  Typography is such a vibrantly colored collection, I really love these papers!  I made this thank you tag so that it could double as a card too! It has a little door on the front that opens so that you can write a personal note.  Tutorial here.

11.  Pictured is a steam operated shovel and what could be more perfect for scrapping these pictures than the Steampunk Debutante collection?

Mother Goose is the perfect collection for scrapping the little ones in your life and here is our grandson.  I fussy cut some of the adorable images from this collection and emphasized the circular design by using the circle punch outs from the cardstock banners.

12.  This is a cigar box I altered as a gift for a friend using the fabulous Couture collection.  Then I made a tag to accompany my gift.
