December Flying Unicorn kit

The Flying Unicorn December kit is, as always, packed with a fabulous assortment of papers and embellishments.  Feataured papers include Creative Imaginations Gallivant, Fabscraps Marie Antoinette, and Ruby Rock-it Mother Nature.  Our main kit always includes an off the page project and this month its Teresa Collins' Christmas Countdown Memory Mini Album.  You can buy the kit here, hurry they go fast!

I keep trying to convince everyone at the Flying Unicorn that I am a sweet angel, but you know they just don't believe me.  I offer this as proof positive, LOL.  I was in Ohio this past winter with my scrappy girl friends and we were at a gift shop that had these wings.  Well you know Jen (jrabs) always has her camera in hand and she tood this picture!  Thanks for this fun photo Jen!

This was the first LO I did with the kit and its my favorite.  I add the Dusty Attic frame which is painted with Liquid Pearls in biscotti and touches of Antique Gold Rub 'n' Buff.  I wanted the matting to be on top of the frame rather than underneath so I layered a piece of cardboard inside the frame and them adherred my papers to the cardboard.  I really like the effect.  I used MS's swirling lace corner punch to punch the circle.  The embellishment addon includes the Prima resin bird and Pink Paislee Artisan Element circle.  The letters and birdcage were in previous kits.

The Flying Unicorn strives to put together unusual kits with unusual things to stretch your creativity.  I love the 12 x 12 cork panel included in the kit and thought it would be a perfect background for this photo of a long abandoned farm house.  Again, thanks to Jen for this excellent photo that she took when visiting me,  I used a Crafter's Workshop stencil and Glimmer Mist to create the background.  the letters are heat embossed with Stampendous aged copper.  I used a Dusty Attic bracket frame from my stash and heat embossed it with Stampendous aged silver, then before the Embossing powder dried I added Stampendous Tarnished Mica Fragments.  I think it is a cool old look!
The flowers are from my stash.

Also included in the main kit is this great sandable cardstock, sanding brings out the clock details, I love this cardstock!   I had fun with the letters, first I inked them with Distress Walnut Stain, then I dabbed on Lindy's Cattail Copper Brown and touches of Lindy's California Poppy Gold.  Note that I said dabbed on, I have dabber tops on many of my Lindy's mists and you get a different effect from dabbing than you get from misting.  With dabbing, the color tends to pool and concentrate more.

Thanks for visiting, I'll have some more kit creations for you tomorrow and they will be completely different from these, I'll show you the feminine side of the kit.
