Terrific Tags at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog

The Challenge
Our new challenge at The Funkie Junkie Blog is up!  Ginny is  hosting this time around and it's a  great challenge, Terrific Tags.  I love making tags so this was right up my alley.  Ginny describes her challenge, "Add it to a gift, label a homemade tasty treat, or display it with your favorite home decor, tags are not only fun to create they also have a million uses. For this challenge create a tag that's big or small, mixed media or layered, or added to a project as a fabulous focal point. I can't wait to see your creations!"

It's a Gift Card Tag
I chose the bright and cheerful Graphic 45 Lost in Paradise collection to make my tag.   This tag features a hidden pocket where you can tuck in a gift card.  Add the tag to a nice bottle of wine, and presto!  You've got a great gift.  ( The Funkie Junkie Boutique carries many Graphic 45 collections so be sure to stop and take a look.)
Tutorial
Let me show you how this tag comes together.

Step 1:  Begin by cutting an envelope with Eileen Hull's new Gift Card Folder and Label XL Die by Sizzix.  I cut my envelope from plain cardstock that coordinated with the paper collection.  Since cardstock is thinner than the mat board that I normally use with the XL dies, the crease lines did not emboss on the cut envelope and that's the way I wanted it because normally there are two score lines to make a 3D envelope and I wanted a flat envelope.  I just scored the envelope as shown in this photo.  Fold up the three flaps and you've got a great little pocket that can be used for so many things!

Step 2:  Fussy cut some flowers from Utopian Fields and a cut-apart from Hypnotic Horizons as shown.

Step 3:  Next cut a strip from  Graphic 45's Lost in Paradise about 4 1/8" x 12" and then use G45's large tag die to cut a tag from the pink striped B side.  Trim the remainder of the strip to 3 1/2" wide and round the corners as shown below.

Step 4:  Adhere the die cut tag to an ivory Graphic 45 large tag.  Then adhere the floral piece at the top of the tag, centering from side to side.  Assemble the gift card folder as shown.

Step 5:  Trim the cut-apart shown below to 2 5/8" x 3 5/8".  On the backside of the cut-apart, add a belly band by just adhering the ends of a strip of paper so that you can slip a gift card behind.

Adhere the Gift Card Folder 2 1/4" from the bottom, centering from side to side.

Step 6:  Adhere the flowers to the envelope being careful not to adhere to the back of the envelope.  Next add dimensional foam on three sides of the Hello Sunshine cut-apart (leaving the top open) and adhere over the gift card assembly as shown.

Cut a 3 1/4" Mini Scallop strip from cardstock and adhere near the bottom of the tag as shown.

Step 7:  Add some pretty flowers and work in a couple of fun charms.  The Funkie Junkie Boutique has a great selection of charms and other metal embellishments.  Add a pretty bow at the top and that's all there is to it!
