Time for a new Fabscraps collection!! Elegant Chic

Yippee, new Fabscraps!!!!  Elegant Chic is one of Fabscraps newest paper collections and it is truly elegant with it's vintage rose patterns and pink and gray palette.  The collection is perfect for your shabby chic projects with a vintage flair!

Still round the corner there may wait, a new road or a secret gate. J. R. R. Tolkien

I love the chipboard gate available with this collection and the matching diecut that perfectly covers the chipboard.  I've use the two together on the gate on my layout.

My flowers are a Prima vine and Wild Orchid Crafts small carnations and gardenias.

Here are instructions for this layout if you would like to scraplift.  You will need:

  1. Fabscraps Elegant Chic paper collection:  C71 004 White Lace, 005 Shabby Flowers,  007 Fleur,
  2. Fabscraps gate from Journal Book MC71 001A
  3. Fabscraps Picket Fence & Gate DC71 011
  4. 1 sheet white cardstock
  5. Fabscraps silver metal butterfly and bow
  6. Flowers, leaves, embellishments of your choice
  7. Water
  8. Embossing powder
  9. Masks and masking paste
  10. inks

Instructions:
  • Cut a 8" square from the center of C71 007 Fleur and set aside for a future use.   Heavily distress the edges of the remaining frame. Then rub a little water along the edges of the paper and push the paper edge inward so as to create a distress edge that is crease and ruffle as in the photo.
  • Cut a 10" square from the center of the white cardstock and set aside.  Adhere C71 007 Fleur to the cardstock, centering.  Ink and distress the edges of the cardstock.
  • Cut a 10.25" square from C71 005 Shabby Flowers.  I used a WRMK Lucky 8 (Lace Kerchief) punch to cut my paper.  You could use punch around the page punches or even leave unpunched.  Ink and distress as desired and then adhere so to C71 007 Fleur so that it is centered on the page.
  • Select a Picket Fence and Gate from MC71 001A Journal Book and adhere to the chipboard fence and gate DC71 011.  Ink as desired.
  • Cut a  7" circle from C71 004 White Lace.  It looks nice to punch around the circle's edge, see photo.  Ink and distress the edges.
  • Use a mask and white masking paste to mask over the upper right corner of  C71 005 Shabby Flowers and to mask on the C71 004 White Lace circle.
  • Adhere the circle to the left side of the page as shown in the photo.
  • Adhere the gate on the right side, centering vertically.
  • Mat your photo with some of the left over white cardstock.  Pop up the photo with cardboard, pop dots, or foam tape so that it lies flat overlapping the chipboard gate.
  • Embellish with flowers, leaves, a metal butterfly and bow, as desired.
